    Xmas Saver!
Toothfairy - hope your feeling better, make the most of hubby waiting on u hand and foot!!

I've gone posh, letter in Miss Hoodies school bag, - thought whats happened now....... but it was a letter from the head as a thank you for everything I have done for the school, would I like to go and have xmas lunch with the children. Last yr they had the goveners, 4 members of the PTA, and the cleaners..........

Miss Hoodie very exicted shes got 4 outings with the choir, 1st one in town for one of the late night shoppings, then there doing the hospice, old peoples home, and frost fair.

Goodish news from the dentist, apparently my split tooth was a clean break... he's x-rayed it 2ngt, and put some temporary filler in, then in New Year, got to have 2 x 30 min appointments, 1st to measure up for the crown, the 2nd to fit it. I said shall I cancel my normal check-up in dec, the dentist you'd better keep it, with your mishaps!!

Bar that ok, just finishing last bits ready for the sale, plan 2mor to do the Santa snowman.

Miss Hoodie wants to do some cooking on Sat. Then next week is start the xmas sorting.......... xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx
  • Toothfairy – glad it all went okay and that you are being looked after well.

Esmer – I love the bath bomb smoothie, it looks great! I’ll keep a look out for the things you need but nothing jumped to mind as I read your list I’m afraid.

Scatty – I saw the coca-cola Christmas advert a few days ago and it instantly made it feel like ‘proper’ Christmas. I always say it’s not properly Christmas until I’ve seen the advert. I had no idea they did it in real life too, I’d love to see that!!

Mum2one – glad your tooth isn’t as bad as you thought. That will be lovely having Christmas dinner at the school. It’s such a lovely atmosphere in schools at Christmas, despite all the adults running around like headless chickens trying to get everything done!

To the chutney makers – just wondered, does your house stink of vinegar for days after making the chutney? I made some a couple of months ago and it took about a week to get rid of the vinegar smell even though I had all the windows open and sprayed Febreze all over the place. Is that normal???

Glad it all went well Real Toothfairy, and glad it's not as bad as you thought mum2one :j

Happy belated birthday Master Scattymam! There was obviously something in the water on this thread two years ago ;) my year-old monster is making a noisy toy do something noisy while I get myself together to go out (actually I am just faffing about on the internet but whatever........)

I was just wondering if you'd all seen the Christmas sale on fabric and ribbon bits? I just got 10m of satin ribbon for 50p :money:

NickyBo, everything smells of vinegar here after chutney-making. I tend to put my hair in a wrap before I start else I end up with smelly hair :o

And in case you haven't seen my famous thread in a banner over the top of the site () please check and make sure you didn't open the dodgy Trojan in that email.

  • Hi all,

Just skiving in here for a bit before attempting my assignment!

Hope you're all feeling better today - I'm feeling a little better too today and have just got back from my nurse appt.

    Right then

Pomegranate Vodka - looks super easy

The domestic goddess herself uses 150g pomegranate seeds, Mr S sells 100g for £1.50 which is what I'll be using. Add to a 1L size container with 70cl vodka and leave to steep for 4 days, shaking once a day or more.

Sterilise a 70cl size bottle (eg the one the vodka came out of), strain and pout into the bottle, put the lid on and store et voila!

I'm going to use 2 x 350ml vinegar bottles to make 2 gifts using the aspall cider bottles with the lables removed as they are lovely and slim.

    For anyone who's interested

    Winter-spiced vodka

Get a sterilised bottle and add 1tsp coriander seeds, 3 cardamon pods bruised, 1/2tsp cumin seeds, 1 cinnamon stick, 1 dried red chilli then pour in 500ml vodka and leave to steep before using or gifting

Seving suggestion is for a Bloody Mary - add some tomato sauce, bit of salt and worcestershire sauce - might give this a try

Both easy to scale up or down for amounts depending on how cheap vodka is or on offer etc

I'm trying hard not to give into the 341 offer on Pringles!

  • Welcome back scattymam! Thanks for the coke truck info! They go not too far from me, but I just don't think I'll have the time! Booo.

Real Toothfairy - hope you're feeling a little less tender today! Glad it went smoothly!

mum2one - glad it wasn't too bad in the dentist! Good luck for the selling this weekend!

adbonz - hope your dentist trip goes ok too!

Just (hopefully!) sorting out the last few pressies to order. Had to sort out what my parents were getting first to make sure I got something different but they've taken ages to decide! lol Also chatting with some colleagues about our Children's Chrsitmas party and staff drinks and nibbles. I'm part of the staff social committee (coz I have masses of time!!! Not! lol) and we're trying to organise both of these for the very first time! So feeling quite Christmassy, but also a little stressed that not all my pressies have been ordered yet!!

Also MUST do the fake newspaper front page for my Nan's 90th! I'm not paying, my aunt is, but she's said I'm better off doing the information for it!

Back again from Mr S to pick up a few bits forgot yesterday and heard the first Christmas song of the year in there playing on the sound system - a little too early for me!

After deciding to do the gingerbread stuffing alongside the traditional ones this year only saw them on BOGOF! Of course collected 2 as had long sell buy dates on. Only need one as I'm scaling the recipe down.
