    Hi everyone

Clare, I was reading all your activities and immediately thought of that phrase 'ask a busy person if you want something done' do you ever get a chance to sit down?

Lol fortunately I sit down while making jewellery!!

Today I have started my assignment while off sick due to feeling run down, cold and lightheaded as though I might faint at times

At points when I felt better I did another super speedy batch up chutney making coming in at 93p per jar this time as the frozen cranberries were £2.25 per pack or 3 packs of frozen berries for £5 or £1.66 each. Bought 2 bags of cranberries and have the remainder in the freezer ready to make cranberry sauce so another item bought and ready. The other pack I bought to make up the 3 were frozen raspberries to use on a pavlova thing for Christmas Day desert so another thing ticked off.

Also they have a lot of wine offers on atm - 3 for £12 or 2 for £10. The prices for the 2 for £10 are £8.99 or more. I bought 2 bottles of chablis for £10 and on the shelf they were marked up at £13.99. They went through the till at £13.99 each and then took £17.98 off! Bizarre but good! Also got 2 bottles of Schloer for £2 instead of 1 for £1.90 - all to keep for Christmas.

Felt rubbish while in Mr S so didn't hang around in there for too long

Also the till gave me a voucher for £2 off an £8 spend on homeware to use along another voucher for some money of Tu clothing. These will come in handy for the glass bowls I've seen in there at £2 each and need 4 so will come to £6 and also a top for my brother or something to go in the Christmas Eve hamper

Put the fruit compote ingredients together to soak for 24hrs then that's another job ticked off and made up the granola using up storecupboard ingredients and adding a pack of dried cranberries. Made a 1L and 500ml jar, one for me and one for a pressie for mum to go in her kitchen hamper. Some more empty containers from the cupboard which is always good to use up these things languishing in there!

Getting there slowly and the only things left to make are some baking items later on in Dec eg Vanilla or Spice Vanilla cake for work for Christmas for a trial run in my new bargain bundt tin. Really wanted the fir tree one that Nigella uses but couldn't really justify £27.99 plus P+P for one and then there was a musical note one in the clearance section on QVC website for £5.00 plus the usual £3.95 P+P still £8.95 is better then £30+.

It arrived yesterday and its great, feels really solid and well made - looking forward to trying this out

    Things left to do
    Make up pots of gold
    Make up snowman soup
    Make up snowball jars
Buy scratch cards for pots of gold
Finish off compote and pot up
Make final batch of chutney - Delia's Christmas Chutney for the final 5 jars
Make cards weekend after assignment is handed in and go to HB to look for some cards to use

Hmm think that might be nearly it apart from the final meal plan and shop over the next few weeks.

Oh no! Forgot need to make some more chilli jam as sold the last 3 jars and gave another jar away! Not to worry its quick and easy so this can be done in a few days time

  • That was an excellent bargain on the wine Fedup!!

I have a horrible cold and I'm feeling bleurghh. I've had it for nearly 4 weeks and every time I think I'm getting over it, it comes back stronger. My head is hurting with it today, it feels like my brain is going to fall out every time I move :(

Anyway, enough of my moaning. I have been quite productive the last few days but none of it for my own Christmas stuff! At school, each class is having a stall at the Christmas fair and we have to make things to sell. There is also a competition between each class to see who can raise the most money. I've had my class making felt tree decorations for the last month, some have only just finished their first one - they are only 8 years old though. Some of the buttons are already starting to fall off but most of them are looking pretty good. I'm hoping parents will buy them out of love/pity!

Yesterday we also made reindeer food and it looks so good! I make it every year with my class but this year we are presenting it in a 'posh' way. I'm using cellophane card bags with a red and green card bit along the top with the reindeer food poem. Everyone who's seen them has been really impressed and we already have people asking us to reserve some for them. We have only made 50 so I think we'll be making a few more tomorrow!

I have done absolutely nothing towards my own Christmas organising but at least I'm geting other stuff done.

    Hello all :j
You all seem very organised and ''christmassy''.........haven't got that far yet.
Made another button necklace today-three attempts at getting past the first 3 buttons as the thread kept tangling up:mad:) Third time lucky and I got it done.
Got freebie fabric samples out to make some soft trees........got one done !! Coffee jars not dry enough to put brownie mix in yet so I'll do that tomorrow.
Going to forage through my endless collection of ''bags'' (bit of a weakness if I'm charity shopping........always seem to find a bag I love and it gets stuffed in the cupboard and never used...........lol) and pick out a few for the females I'm giving stuff to.........think it'll be easier. I've had another look at the ones sat in baskets and they don't look right somehow.

fedup -sorry you're under the weather. Take it
    easy.

Hope you're all ok and hugs ((((:o)))) to those who need them
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

    Hi all

I think everyone on the Christmas MSE forum must live in my area because I had enormous difficulties getting marshmallows today. None large or small that looked edible (some looked peculiar) so decided to buy 1 x 99p bag of marshmallow snowmen in Superdrug instead. It was a good sized bag in case anyone's interested.

p.s have any of you been watching The Indian Doctor at 2.15? I've really enjoyed it.

    Evening everyone

OH was going up to see his Mum today and asked if I wanted to go for the ride. Had a look on the web to see if they had any fabric shops there and there was one so jumped at the chance to go and have a nosey round. Managed to find a nice stripey fabric for another shirt, was only £2 a metre. OH had gone in the 99p shop while I went in but as I was queuing he came in and asked what on earth I was buying the fabric for. Had to think quick so told him it was for dolls legs lol. Turned his nose up and went to wait outside for me. Then when I came out of the shop there was a market stall right outside that I hadnt seen selling more fabrics at only £1 a metre. Got a nice bit on there for another shirt and a lovely bit to make a top for youngest daugther. Would have got more but I think he might have cottoned on (no pun intended lol) if he had seen me buy any more shirt like fabric in one day.

Yesterday evening I managed to finish off daughter's two blouses and have got the sleeves and cuffs on the shirt I am doing now. It is actually looking quite nice. Only thing is as it gets more and more shirt like I have to find places to hide it so he doesnt see it and recognise what it is going to be. How I wish he would hurry up and go back on days at work, such a pain when he is on nights.

I bought a pack of three Christmas sacks today for 99p as I need two of them for my sisters' presents as they are a bit large. Will save me wrapping up the fabric storage boxes I made for them, I will just wrap up all the bits inside them and then put the box in a sack.

We are having our first Christmas dinner on the weekend of the 12th/13th December as OH's Mum and Dad are going away for the hols so they are coming over for dinner. OH will be buying the food though and cooking so I wont have to worry about it.

Hope all of you not feeling too good start to pick up soon, Rufus xx

Just been having another flick through Nigella's Christmas book and listing a few more things to try out

Just debating whether to make the winter spiced vodka and pomegrante vodka and the rich fruit chutney which is a rich luxuorious version of chutney. Would have to put it into smaller jars than the 1.2 L ones to make it a bit more economically viable.

Otherwise made the last lot of Delia's Christmas Chutney this evening for something to do and free up tomorrow for studying.

So that's done, leaving only the chilli jam and possibly the other fruit chutney if I can track some dried pear down from somewhere!

Also started my meal plan list to start writing down a few things left to get
