New Thrifty Gifty - Organised for Christmas and all ocassions 2010- Santas Challenges

Esmer have fun at the Christmas market, and thanks for telling me about the bathbombs. I had asked Mightnight Raven before but it all seemed too complicated. This was last year when I joined just before christmas and everything was a rush. I had all these new ideas and no time to do them. I'll look at your hompage in a mo.
Here's a link to make a different gift box out of a christmas card, but you could use a sheet of card (for strength) of any pattern you like, as long as it's rectangular. You can do any size you like. The instructions look a bit vague but they are simple and all you need is a hole punch, but you could prod a hole with the pointed end of a knife (with care) if you haven't got one. I hope it helps anyone.
I think were off to the Frankfurt market in Birmingham today. It's the first saturday so hopefully it wont be too much of a scrum.
Thanks Sugarspun - I'll have to get my mum a bike bell, It'll be a fun stocking filler! She only uses the wheelchair a couple of times a year though, she struggles on and refuses to let her disability beat her.
Thanks for the recipe fedup - it sounds yummy.
Just noticed it's so quiet here. The airport is shut as a little plane crashed in the fog yesterday. Still foggy now.I :heartpuls M.S.E.Mortgage Free 18/01/10 13 years and 8 months early on a 20 year mortgage!

Thanks for the links about making boxes - might come in handy when I make a start on the wrapping and sorting presents out!
Now talking of which. I've got 2 garden trugs to put the garden hampers into, a cleaning trug to put my brothers car cleaning hamper in and now struggling for an idea for mum's coffee/hamper
Could do with something nice and reasonable priced. I've got some hatboxes and spare baskets upstairs that I could use, if I do I'll need to find something else to put the pamper hamper into or Christmas Eve Hamper
Garden trug - Garden hamper 1
Garden trug - Garden hamper 2
Cleaning trug - car care hamper
Bucket - car care hamper
Leaves still to sort out

Mum2one - sorry to hear about Miss Hoodies trouble at school, I hope it gets sorted quickly. Is the school aware that this other girl is bullying? Quite often the children don't tell the teachers as they think that it will make things worse. A few times I've had parents shout at me for not sorting situations out when I haven't actually been made aware of them either by the children or their parents (until it got to the shouting stage!). Often the bullying doesn't actually happen in the classroom where the teacher could witness it, but takes place in the playground or walking home from school.
Of course, if the school already knows that this girl is bullying and nothing is being done, then go in and kick some a**!!Making money for Christmas 2012!0 -
Hiya!
Been to mollies today as my friends dad put a new roof on her conservatory for her plus she needed bits picking up and her bed changed , of course we chatted for a good couple of hours which we both love doing lol.
I am going to be tackling my room today to get it ready , clean and clear for when my Goddaughter stays Monday night. Plus I need to sort out some clothes and change a unit around.
Hope your all having lovely weekends so far.
Just to add I am 18 so only 2 years out of school. I have never personally had a huge deal with bullying because anytime any one has had a pop at me I don't fight back as such but I do stand up for myself and they get bored. My brother (Special needs) got a lot of bulling (he went to mainstream secondary school ) my mum wanted to go round the bullies house and kick off ect yet that only makes things a lot worse. Because a real tough bully who wants to use violence will either come from a home where fighting is accepted or there not scared of what there parents will do or say if they if the find out there kid is bullying the best thing is to encourage the child to talk , but not push them and help anything you can for example if the childs being picked on because they have a horrible bag maybe a nicer bag if possible even though it shouldn't be that way also get your child into a class or hobby , karate or football or dance or what ever let them have a focus which also helps there confidence thats all i can think of for now kids can be horrible! x so hugs to any struggling parents! xNanMias - cyber granddaughter!

Hi all
Mum2one, you got some brilliant deals with your photo orders, I bet the postie is glad to work down your road
Bullying is often done by close friends which isn't nice. Reverse psychology can work e.g.agreeing with them (yes my bag is rubbish, last time I go to Peacocks) and laughing along with it.
They often bully in the first place because they have a hard time making friends.0 -
Hello all :j
mum2one -sorry miss hoodie is having such problems........think Angela might have the answer -might not always work but worth a try.
esmer and elysia -thanks for the links of making boxes. It was definitely an oblong box I'd seen. Think I've sussed it now and finished all the boxes for my fudge kebabs............they were just narrow boxes and I made them to fid the size of the fudge.
Thats about all I've done today apart from make a last minute card for a neighbour who got married today -I'd completely forgotten. Still, after a lot of scratching head etc. it turned out ok.
Phone call from lad we used to look after who now lives in scotland........long phone call.......mentioned the button necklaces I'd done and he's asked me to make one for his girlfriend........ Oh lor........don't know if I can face it again after the last one I made............lol
Was going to do brownie mix today but after phone calls, making cards etc. really don't feel like it. Nothing spoiling so tomorrow will do.............tomorrow does come doesn't it ?????............lol:rotfl:I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Also would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to all for your wonderful messages/wishes. I am feeling much better.....still not completely back to normal (what is that again??) Not doing car boot sale now this weekend.....maybe next week. Have nearly finished writing out my Xmas cards....at least I could just sit and do those...no effort required!! Plan of action is to try and get at least 5 monkeys made this week.....sort through all stuff for car boot and box according to price so we know roughly when we get there or price up...am thinking which way to go on this. Need to get some Next vouchers for great nieces & nephew that I dont see very much & biscuits for elderly neighbours. Also need to sort DD's passport application for her as she is off to Budapest next May but college need to have copy now!! Managed to help her do her personal statement for uni applications this week so she has stopped stressing about that lol
Have got most of stuff for Xmas table (gold/cream/black theme) ....lovely cream tablecloth from Next.....gold table decs from La Redoute (14p!!!) black & gold candle holders with gold candles and gold runner (halfcost) also got a black runner from argos to go under the gold one. Also got some lovely crystal glasses from BHS ....should have been £40 but got them for under £10!!! Have ordered some new gold placemats and need to get crackers. Have already got gold napkins which I got to use for pots of gold but didnt end up using. Will be using pots of gold for each person as well. I think that will be all for that.
Got my VO £10 Tesco voucher the other day so am going to use that for more Xmas titbits. Hoping to get another soon as am up to £8 atm.
Also got a £10 M & S voucher coming from Sky for signing up to a promo to have a sky hd movie party lol So will use that on Xmas bits as well.
Hope ur all well
Much love xxNever buys anything at full price unless completely forced to do so!!! :whistle:0
