Boxing day we always have left over turkey put into a curry for lunch/dinner. We've done it now for nearly 20 years (Boxing day isn't boxing day - it's turkey curry at mum's day).
OR - after all the rich food over the christmas, how about something simple, like jacket potatoes - just chuck them in the oven, make several fillings and everyone (age permitting) can help themselves, prawn cocktail, chilli, tuna mayo etc served with salad. Don't put yourself under so much pressure - each meal doesn't have to five star. You do some quick/easy meals too.I :heartpuls M.S.E.Mortgage Free 18/01/10 13 years and 8 months early on a 20 year mortgage!

I did pots of silver last year - beat you all to it.
************************************************************
Just a quick message to let all the newbies/and not so newbies know that from January 1st I'm getting the Thrifty Money Making board up and running again. (This is where we make money from surveys etc to pay for all the presents and gifts we buy on this thread).
There will be challenges too, just like this thread, but on the 1st of the month - nothing too hard, and every penny earned is a penny less you have to find when it comes to buying birthday/christmas presents. I'll even throw in the odd prize too.I :heartpuls M.S.E.Mortgage Free 18/01/10 13 years and 8 months early on a 20 year mortgage!

Thanks for the codes for Marks' ladies. I got my mum four quiz books to add to her birthday pressie and a recipe organiser book for my sister. All delivered for £4.90. The organiser book on it's own should be £8. Bargain.xxxI :heartpuls M.S.E.

Hi all
Been lurking on Grabbit board this afternoon.......Got my £10 voucher code from Next so ordered a nice tablecloth and a pair of slippers (for myself from DH!!).
Also got a nice cook book from M & S yesterday.
Only gone a got another upset tummy so am not a happy bunny!!! (I'm a poet and didnt know it lol)
So feeling pretty sorry for myself today......so hope I am ok tomorrow as I have to have tummy test done on Thursday under GA......then depending on weather etc might be doing a car boot sale this weekend (1st one I will have ever done). Then back to hospital on Tuesday for a pre-op assessment for op on my knee!!! (I am hoping and praying that they dont want to do it before Xmas....not doing Xmas on crutches!!!)
Still........am pleased with myself as I managed to get over £300 for selling 3 phones....1 of which had a broken case.Never buys anything at full price unless completely forced to do so!!! :whistle:0 -
Hello all :j
mum2one - you've reminded me I must make appt. with dentist.....no problem but I know I'm overdue a checkup...............you should be ok with your stall I'd have thought.:)
Jamtart - nice to see you back :T
Toothfairy - good luck with the bootsale........and with tummy test and pre-op assessment:)
Intended going into town today but it was so cold and the pavements were a bit slippy here and there plus back was playing up..........was ok till I stood on one leg putting my trousers on then sneezed !! Ouch !! Took a while to feel ''normal'' again.
So sat and covered a plastic tube I'd had some floral embellishments in and printed out friendship poem for my friend with photo of us both on it.......rolled it up like a scroll and popped it in the tube........she'll love it I know. Got a few extra christmas cards done in case I forget someone and OH went to get stuff for fudge kebabs.....turkish delight and some other soft sweet......he forgot marshmallows..............:rotfl:
Oh well.............he'll get them tomorrow and get kebabs done (he says ).............:rotfl:I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Good luck from me too, for the pre-op stuff TOOTHFAIRY. I hope you'll be ok for the tests and your car boot.
Re the carboot - take someone with you so you can go off for a mooch or the toilet. I did one once on my own. I expected all the stuff to be gone when I got back, it was OK but I was hanging on until I was absolutley desperate. It's a wonder I made it in time.
Take plenty of change too, and don't lower your prices too much. Sometimes things are charged at 50p and that's still a bargain and you'll get someone saying can you do it for 10p. If your happy with that, fine, but don't lower your prices too much until you have an hour to go, and then just get what you can, it saves taking it the tip or storing it again.I hope you don't mind me saying this, only I've done a few now, and I wish someone would have told me when I started. :A
