Bought a few little bits and pieces for the emergency boxes. Got two shopping list pads about 18p each in Wilks and 4 small rolls of sticky tape for under 90p which we can split in half between the two boxes. Went in 99p shop and they had a large card containg sewing needles, pins and safety pins, and a pack of four tubes of super glue, these can all be split up as well. Need to make a small list of what else to get, keep thinking of things and then forgetting them again. So far we have listed batteries, candle, matches, pen and plasters. Will see how it looks when we have bought this lot and put them inside and see what else we can fit in. Already have some first class stamps and one of those energy saving light bulbs each.

  • Hello everyone

I went to the Christmas Fair at Olympia this morning - brilliant start to the day as I was standing in the queue waiting to pay to get in, this bloke comes up to me and says he's got a spare ticket because one of their friends couldn't make it and gave it to me. I got in for free instead of the £15 entrance fee or whatever it was - bargain! :j

There was SO much stuff there I could have stayed all day but managed to drag myself home after a couple of hours. There were some lovely decorations and great gifts and the upstairs bit was all food stuff. Think I spent the entrance fee I saved anyway!

Going out tonight so better go and jump in the bath. Sounds like everyone is getting on really well with all their buys, I haven't even thought about wrapping - I usually do it all on Christmas Eve and give myself cramp from sitting on the floor for so long!

Got three parcels this morning, one was a pair of antlers for the dog, they're hysterical. Might take some pictures if I can get him to sit still and make them into cards.

    Take care all. :)
  • Oh how I wish I had been well enough to go to Olympia :(

2 Christmas Cakes on the go - fruit soaking overnight ready to go tomorrow

I decided to crack on with the marmalade tonight and made 7 jars of Seville Orange Marmalade out of one tin of prepared Sevilles from Lakeland. Talk about easy to make, much easier than thinly slicing and soaking from scratch and took less than an hour to make.

Cost approx £1.20 per jar which is way cheaper than the equivalent from the supermarkets

So that's practically all the preserving done now, just need to check my lists to see if anything is left.

Feeling a bit down in the dumps tonight so decided to open one of the boxes of Thorntons to eat to cheer myself up (blame the ex for this one who is giving me a hard time for no reason at all).

Next is time to update the challenge list....
