  • Hi everyone, glad to see that everyone is busy getting ready for Christmas. I'm so excited, you wouldn't believe!

Had to try really hard when I went in to pets at home last night not to buy all the christmas stuff for the puppy - she will be getting stuff (she HAS to, it's her first christmas!!! :rotfl:), just have to wait a little while as my OH thinks I'm mad!

I'm not really very organised yet, I've only got one Christmas gift for my OH. Was thinking of doing a couple of pamper hampers but not decided yet...

I thought I had another couple of presents organised but the Avon lady has never been back to collect the order so I guess I won't be getting them.

Abdonz - my baileys fudge appears to have failed miserably! I made it on Wednesday night and it still wasn't set this morning, should I give up on it now? Any tips for in future?

Happy birthday (belated, present and future) to all on the forums! :)

    Morning all :)

    Thanks Piglet27 and Elysia2003 - I am feeling a lot better today.

Last night I went out for a meal with my sister and half way through the meal my sis surprized me with tickets to the rocky horror picture show for after our meal - an early birthday present. I had wanted to see that show live for years! It was so lovely of her, and I had a fantastic time - it really cheered me up :)

Mum2one - well done on the weight loss and all your recent bargains :T

Cookiecrumbs - good luck on your dog walk - hope the weather isn't too bad for you.

Qaphsiel - Glad your girls are getting better.

Cdsmiler - Thanks so much for the link - I've order a girl one, for £3.35 it's well worth a go :)

Maryop - Really hope OH is feeling better soon.

Realtoothfairy - Love the pamper hamper.

Mrsow - Happy late birthday, hope you had a fab day!

I'm having a lovely relaxing day today as my little one is at her grandmas until hubby picks her up on his way home from work and my other 2 girls are at school so it's chill time :)

Hope everyone is ok and having a great day xx

djstar - very jealous! Bet Rocky Horror was fab!!

Ok ladies (and gentleman? Still just the one??), I need to clear my thoughts a bit. Have posted about this before but didn't come to a conclusion.... Table gifts for New Year - there'll be 5 of us, including my 90 year old Nan!

Last year I did pots of gold. I also did snowman poop for some of the same people at another point over Christmas. What other CHEAP options could I do?? Can be funny and gimmicky, and Im happy to be crafty.... cheaper the better though!!

    Thanks!!

    Clare x

Edited to say I do have some ideas written down from last time, but I'd love some more that I can take away to a quiet room and think through properly please! lol x

Borrowed the recipie from the Xmas food in advance

I used two punnets of fruit (raspberries or blackberries etc) to 225g granulated sugar. Gently heated until the sugar was dissolved and the fruit had juiced a bit. Put the fruit into a jug and added a 70cl bottle of value vodka or gin, covered with clingfilm. I will stir every day for a week or so, then bottle and leave somewhere cold (I use the garage) till Christmas. Maybe shaking them up if I wander passed them. I may add more sugar later if after tasting I think it could do with it - all a bit hit and miss with me!

(theres a gin recipie as well ) xx

Thanks for this mum2one sounds very easy and be well appreciated by my mum.

    Hi all

Clare re table gifts - do you know anyone that can draw caricatures? Or if you have photos of them all, put them into one of those free software sites where you can cartoon people, or do unusual things with colours.
  • Hi everyone

Miserable weather here today so I'm not holding out much hope for it being dry for the dog walk on Sunday. Might have to buy some wellies tomorrow just in case! ANOTHER tube strike planned for Monday so might work at home instead to save sitting (or standing)on a packed bus for hours on end!

mum2one - thanks so much for the PM, have PM'd you back!

mary - hope your OH is feeling better

toothfairy - love your hamper. If you want thicker ribbon I bought a load of florist ribbon from ebay last week and it looks great - not very expensive either.

mrsow - happy birthday for yesterday

cdsmiler - hope you find that £15 somewhere! I hate losing stuff - OH is always "tidying" and nothing is ever where I left it!!

pennieswerepounds - I always buy Christmas presents for my dog! Plus you have to get in early as I have left it late before now and when you go in there's nothing left!! Must go to Pets at Home next weekend - another thing on my list to do!!

djstar - sounds like you had a lovely time, that was a great surprise your sister gave you.

Went to Aldi last night as last time I went in they were selling their fake eyelashes (recommended in the Times style magazine no less!) They were only about £2 and I wanted to get some for my sisters Christmas box but they had none left :(. They did have tons of sweets though so I got some for the sweetie jars I'm doing. Bargain!
  • Oh she will definately be getting presents (and probably plenty of them as I spoil her rotten! :rotfl:)

I was suprised by how big the selection was, there's loads of choice!

Just need to watch what edible gifts to get though as some seem to upset her tummy, not sure if that is just her age though?!

I know!! Mine always gets completely spoilt, will definitely have to go and have a look soon. Last year he had a massive stocking and a turkey Jumbone - keeps him quiet for ages :). Only problem is the stocking always has a squeaky toy in. It drives you bonkers after a while and you can't get it off him!!

They do have stuff specifically for puppies if she gets a bad stomach, but I haven't found any problems giving mine anything even from an early age - perhaps she's just intolerant to some foods?
