abdonz - I get my shoe boxes from our local shoeshop..........some folk go in and get them to send stuff off to ebay so the shop owner told me but I think a lot of the time they're glad to get rid of them. Have to be careful though and make sure that you get decent ones.......no dents or tears. I cover mine with either christmas paper or this year its red textured wallpaper I got from charity shop.
Did you see my post about free fabrics from the Freebie Board yesterday ? Think we double posted and wasn't sure you saw it.:)
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

I don't mean to panic anyone - but when I was talikng to the manager in Argos - (the damm diy machine eat my receipt), got Miss Hooide a scooter with the flashing lights on the side, b surprise bday present off Bailey.

But I was saying that I want to get her a bike for xmas, nice one reduced to £70 instead of £140 in the main catalogue, ....... she says I'm not doing the hard sell, but do you want me to have a look at delievery....... thought ok, get it and put it in the garage - SOLD OUT - next one £80 SOLD OUT she said that apparently from mid September people start buying the bigger Christmas presents that they've had to save for, - the main present and then the cheaper, smaller items as and when........ she said theres been an up turn in dsi since they were advertised on tv at £99 there flying out, a few are getting the dsi XL,

we've seen a bike in Halfords, unfortunately that was sold out as well........ keep on trying, but just thought it may be worth bearing in mind.

I remember a couple of yrs ago when the "mummy I can swim doll was all the rage....... that was a nightmare, I ended up getting one from Chester (1hr away on train), got it home Miss Hooide saw it and said I don't like that I hope its not for me..... after asking for a month for one........ I was luckly put it on ebay, did add train fayre, (doll was £20, train fare £8), but some sellers at the time were asking £100 and getting it......
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

  • Shoeboxes - no, it's not cheeky at all to ask for shoeboxes from a shoe shop. When I was at Uni I used to work in Clarks and we always had people coming in around now asking for boxes for the appeals. We had to break all the boxes down before they could be thrown away so it actually saved us a job when we could give them away! Now I organise the charity shoebox appeal at school, I phone the local Clarks up and they save me boxes over a weekend, then I collect on the Sunday afternoon.

On a totally non-Christmas note - I've been having a really odd feeling in my left eye for the last week or so. It feels like someone is very gently blowing cold air in my eye. It doesn't hurt at all, just tingles a bit. It sometimes actually feels a bit menthol (sounds crazy!) like someone has used strong mouthwash and then breathed in my eye! Today I've had the feeling a lot so I googled it when I got home, as I was starting to diagnose myself with all sorts of horrendous things. The first thing that came up on Google was a possible Thyroid problem. My Dad (and lots of family on that side) have Thyroid problems. I was tested a few years ago and was fine but have been told it will probably develop at some point. I just phoned my Dad to ask him about it but when I was describing the symptoms he said it was exactly like he had before he was diagnosed with Glaucoma! Now I have to try and get a doctors appointment to see what's going on  Crikey, I'm only 31, I can't have Glaucoma! Has anyone else felt anything like this before?

Sorry for going on a bit, I've been worrying about it and it helps to write it down :o

Don't be daft, ur among friends, as they say a problem shared if a problem halved. Hope you get on ok with docs appointment, this may sound an odd question, but how long ago is it since you have had your eyes tested, could be tiredness (bright side), and they usually do a puffer test on your eyes. xx

    Selling Games
Just discovered 2ngt that Argos buy 2nd hand games, as long as there working order, instructions and boxed, thou they have a "picky list", some of the prices aren't too bad, Miss Hoodie sorted out her ds collection, out of 10, Argos have 2 listed, Simpsons and nintendo dogs - they buy those at £5 (get argos vouchers)

    Can check on
    www.argos.co.uk/tradein

then link into DS/wii/ps3 and the other one.

Just going shopping around virtually for her, if not ebay to the rescue xx

I had a similar problem last year I wanted to get DS one of those wooden train table's they have one in toys r us that they keep putting on half price(I wouldn't pay the full price if I could afford to:eek:)and all up to christmas it was sold out his birthday came and it went back upto to £199.99, then it went half price and sold out then upto full price 2 weeks ago it went half price so I ordered it for him for this christmas 3 days later it was sold out. So pleased I went on toys r us website that day:T

DD2 I have put her bike by in halfords and DD1 wants GHD's so just hers left to worry about now but will order them when I have the money in a couple of weeks.
