I've never known it so quiet on here!

Even the grabbit board is quiet lately. I was hoping to get stocked up on presents while I had the kids off and have the time to check the grabbit for bargains more often. But there's nothing on it really - the odd £10 off a dress or you can get two packets of loo rolls for the price of one at CO-OP. :rotfl:

Miss Hoodie has made her choices from the July challenge-

Storecupboard / Freezer challenge - cdsmiller - who was going to try the lemon pud recipie,

Oooooooooooo! Thank you! lol Sorry to say that the pudding was a disappointment though, Even though I followed the recipe to the letter, the top burnt a bit and the lemon sauce that magically forms was a bit weird and more like uncooked pudding mix!! :(

Rufus - glad your daughter got her phone back!

Mary - glad the furniture is now in and sorted!

    Qaphsiel - welcome!!

Had a lovely weekend visiting inlaws - DD was in her element as you can imagine, getting all the attention (what 7 month old wouldn't be?!). AFter some secretive probing I've also decided what jams/chutneys to make - wanted to give some to the inlaws & family but they are such picky eaters.....

    So, am doing the following:
Raspberry jam (as it went down well last year)
    Sweet Red Onion Chutney
    Sweet Chili Jam
    Tomato Chutney

Now, I have the recipe for the jam and have one someone posted for the onion chutney. I know a sweet chili jam/chutney recipe was floating around at one point - does anyone have the link for it?
As for the tomato chutney, I think my mum has a recipe.....

Bought a couple of those eye makeup and lip makeup sets that were reduced on halfpriceperfumes. They're worth the money I paid for them, but definitely not the RRP! However, I'll pinch a few bits ( I NEVER buy makeup - can't normally warrant the expense!) and there's some nice bits and bobs that when I remix the stuff together will be good for brother's gf, and possibly sis in law.....

Also picked up in ASDA in their 2 toys for £8 range a big plastic jar containing loads of bubble blowing stuff, and a Hello Kitty play doh set - both should have been £6 each, and will do for hubby's cousins little girls. One is 7 (I think...) and the other 3, but not sure yet which to give to which... lol any ideas??

Other than that though, nothing else done!! Got a paranormal related training day (don't ask!!) this Saturday so been busy orgaanising that, so might get a chance to sort Christmas spreadsheet out next week. Fingers crossed. Going to be suggesting to a few friends that we don't do gift exchanges this year (as we're trying to save money) so we'll see waht they say...

Hope you're all well and starting to feel Christmassy!!

Asda are selling huge toblerones for £1 at the moment, use by date is March 2011 so handy for Chirstmas stocking fillers (although you would need a rather large stocking as they are huge)!

I also would like to make some chutneys as gifts, chilli jam sounds lush.
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.
  • Hi, hope you don't mind me joining in too, I have been reading and enjoying this thread over the last couple of days.

Started to buy all my crafty stuff this morning for my array of homemade foodie xmas presents and have so many new ideas to try. So excited.

I have got quite a few bits and bobs now for people and yesterday got my notebook out and wrote everything down. Feeling more organised now.

Hope to swap ideas and get some lovely new ones too.

    Thanks ladies x

    Hello all :j

With all good intentions out came the scrapbooks to add bits I'd notice I'd missed out plus stuff I found amond mums bits and pieces.......all going well then our lad started playing up -messed about with fruit pastilles all over the table, fiddling about with phone wires as his netbook won't get internet connection and generally being a pain in the butt !
Did manage to add a page to scrapbooks (can you believe I'd missed my brother out ??) then couldn't think how the scrapbooks went back together again.............lol Sorted now but my word.......all I was going to do is still not done !

Eldest sons birthday today - he's thrilled with his pressie -not sure whether its the box he loves or whats inside................lol (I'd covered a shoe box with wrapping paper from the music shop) and put musical notelets and t-shirt in it (vistaprint), coffee mug with music notes on it(put some coffee sachets inside it), some guitar plectrums I got from freebie board - meant to pop in a chocolate bar with the normal cover replaced with music related paper but forgot (must remember for christmas!)

Mustn't forget to pop next door and put my name on some wood she's got from dismantled bed - need a little fence at the bottom of the garden and it should be just right.............oh and there's the ladder from the bunk beds she had............ideal for a towel rail.:j
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Just had a mega good find on freecycle.
A man offered a huge box of NEW christmas cards (all hallmark). He was only getting rid as he couldn't sell them as they are slightly bent in places.

I now have lots that i can either 'unbend' or cut up and make new cards with.

To say i'm chuffed is an understatement!
