    Morning All

I'd also like to join please

I lurked for the last of the other thread but am joining this one from new - have caught up with all the pages now. I admire some of the persitance you girls have with buying up stuff now - I've been too short of money to start before today but we're off to Asd@ tonight to get some foodie bargains hopefully.

I've printed off the challenge and will do it next week when all are back at scholl/work.

    Thanks for the thread

  • I'd like to join, being new to the forum. The moneysaving challenges sound fun. I am a Homestart volunteer, and most of the families I visit are short of money, so I could use helpful ideas for them too.

All the best for today everyone and hi :j to everyone new.

I'm a bit peeved as my computer has done something very naughty overnight and deleted all my bookmarks (hundreds) on Firefox and even though I tried retrieving them from the hidden folders, they still won't return. Annoying as I had all my fave threads on MSE permanently across the toolbar. And even worse, it won't bookmark anything so I have to manually search for the site then write in passwords etc.

Well it's one way to cut down on computer time as apart from MSE, I'm not going to bother!

Well with this thread in mind I've just visited a local Garden Centre and purchased some family Xmas cards, Xmas mugs for Hampers or pressies and a lovely cake plate all for half price.

Hi everyone, went out today to get the pressies for the people I felt 'obliged' to buy for. hats and scarfs set from local football club- £26 later.. This is def being knocked in the head next year- I never wanted it to start.

I went to Aldi as DS really wanted to try their 3 bird roast for NY but they'd sold out.:(

At our local 'haberdashery' shop, their special Christmas cards which are usually a lot cheaper than the big card shops were reduced to 1/2 price. I saw a card saying from your grandchildren thought that was nice for 40p picked it up and then saw some cards saying to 'Nanny and Grandad' which are rare, usually have to get Nan or Nanna sp picked them up and only when I got home do I realise I'd forgotten to put the 1st ones back. so much for me using up what I've already got.

Gave kids their pocket money- said they could have it once they'd completed tidying up.;) Note for self make sure I have plenty of £1 and £2 coins next time, they were baffled about how you put a £5 note in their piggy bank and weren't convinced you could get them back out again- looks of disbelief when I told them as a kid I had £1 notes in my piggy bank and no problem retrieving them!

    Hello all :j
You're so organised............(hangs head in shame) I've done nothing as yet but did make some birthday cards this morning for January birthdays so that must count as being a bit 'organised'.
Have checked out Easter crafting thread and more or less sorted in my head what I'm doing for that.
Christmas is sorted in my head but thats as far as its got.
Oh well, maybe once I've finished off this years diary and start new one tomorrow I'll feel more motivated.
Slipped up on my resolutions..............meant to make appt. for hairdressers next week (promised myself I'd go once a month starting first week of Jan  )and as for the 'be more organised' bit.............well if you saw my house you'd know thats fell by the wayside before new year starts.............
Not to worry...............tomorrow is another day and with any luck I'll clear my brain and start again.

Looking forward to a quiet night in with OH..............whatever you're doing have a Happy New Year................:T
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

  • Next thing is my mum's birthday in Feb and I am still thinking about what I can get for this as I did a massive pamper hamper at Christmas and needs to be different.

Thinking about a new DVD player/hdd recorder as her dvd isn't very good. Better have a little mosey on amazon and see what is around. Also a birthday meal and cake at mine

Mother's day I thought about putting together a Crossword and Puzzle Hamper as she likes these with a nice bookmark and some other bits as well as cooking a nice Sunday lunch

She's a lucky Mum to have such a thoughtful daughter:A. I like the idea of a crossword hamper, my Mum does a crossword every day so I might pinch that one!
  • Hi All

Bargains today included a personalised pen for 49p instead of £2.99 (from Clintons), which will be for stepmother-in-law, and I'll make some notelets to go with it.

Also got a FCUK set for daughter's boyfriend's birthday in March - that was half price at £9. That was all today.. wandered around various shops but I'm very choosy where I'm spending it this year!

Also got a 'Learn to Crochet' magazine with crochet hook, 2 balls of yarn, a DVD and an instruction book - all for 99p. That's the only thing I haven't mastered yet...

Happy New Year to everyone - hubby and I are babysitting our 21 month old grandson tonight, so it will be very quiet for us (I hope, if he goes to sleep!).
Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing
