I love reading this thread, but haven't caught up with it for a while, so thanks in advance to everyone for contributing and for the ideas I will no doubt collect as I read :)

I am now on the look out for bits for xmas pressies, managed to get a couple of uber bargains for a friend's present last week (PJs (£5) and a hoodie, rrp £50 for £2!!!)
Yesterday I went into our local primark and they had an "everything 10p" stand with hats/scarves/sets on- mens and womens and some baby mits, 2 pairs for 10p- I bought lots but have no idea what to do with them (will give some of them to charity)
Then today I went into our local huuuge garden centre and they had some gorgeous tin containers, meant for patio tables I guess, reduced to 50p each- they are ideal sized for making mini hampers :)

There to go on purse zips, ca't think of the proper name, I got a few things from ebay, tibetian items, can pick up (10 for a £1.00,) use split ring, (got 200 x 4mm for £1.00) and a lobster clasp (got 20 for £1.00) all ebay, each one works out about 15-20p each, similar in shops can be £2.00.

There be ready for presents, and dd going to help me with them, just something we can do together xx

Thanks mary :) Although I don't post often, I do enjoy reading your threads, esp about all of the bargains you get from charity shops. Quite inspirational :)

mcjordi -nice one..........always good to get something free............get my shoe boxes for nothing from the shoe shop..........think she's glad to get rid of them..............lol -reminds me..........need some more than I might be able to sort out what I've done so far and who its for...........lol

mum2one..........zip fobs sound good.........are they sort of like and elaborated key ring ? Love to have a go but get the feeling I'd have to get a cheap purse to go with it so whoever I was giving it to knew what it was..................lol As it is, I'm racking my brain for a verse or something to put on a tag for the handbag charms.............lol

Hi there, i was wondering if anyone could enlighten me on if you can buy the clear packaging for the flannel chocolate logs?

Have you read from post 1062 onwards there are replies about packaging for flannel cakes and chocolate logs/swiss roll.

Alternatively, contact a catering supplies company as they sell clear boxes etc I've seen some that work out at 16p each only you have to buy in bulk.

I'm planning on using bit of cardboard, to put them on, and then write purse tag, so saves me buying a purse...... def love the idea of he verse for the handbag charms x

Mary-op, there are many shops these days which sell the hand bag charms so I dont think people would wonder what they are for, I wouldnt worry abotu buying purses. You could use some of your buttons and beads if you have any left. I think they would look wonderful xx

    Hi all

I've got a white computer desk and no matter how much I clean it, within days it's got mucky again, no idea how???

Well today I had a brainwave that I was going to sellotape together a load of greeting cards that I had been planning to recycle in a crafty way and use them to cover the surface.

On the subject of charms, I once had a beautiful bracelet and the clasp broke, it couldn't be repaired easily so instead of it lying in a drawer I put it to good use by attaching it to my embroidery scissiors so I wouldn't lose them.

Come to think of it those kinds of charms would be useful for all sorts of reasons, whenever anyone has an item that is easily lost e.g. glasses case
