Evening all,
Well, bedroom and bathroom now painted, glossed and has new carpet/lino. Boiler semi fixed (doesn't sound like we have a dying cow in the room any more!!), and ikea bedroom furniture coming Thursday. Had a lovely 4 days in France (last Thursday to this past Sunday), but wasn't long enough!! Especially as the day before we went our fridge died!!! We thought it wasn't being quite as efficient as usual...bah. So Wednesday eve hubby when rushing around to get a fridge bought and ready to deliver this week. Very long story short, we couldn't get the one we wanted because of the door sizes in our house, so we order something different to be delivered this morning. Yesterday, after our break, and discovering that the fridge is kinda working a little, we discuss the possibility of the fridge we do want (big american style) being delivered in a different way (back garden). So hubby cancels order and tries to reorder the one we DO want, especially after discovering the doors can come off - which we weren't told about last week!!! Comet helpful, but price gone up by £300 and out of stock!! Currys in stock at better price (Comet would have price matched if in stock). Trouble is, this is now late yesterday eve and Currys now closed. Hubby goes back today, Currys have increased price by £50 overnight, make everything VERY difficult, and after 3 hours of him being in store trying to sort credit and delivery (Curry's delivery people don't do steps!!!!!!!! ARGH!!!), decide to call it a day and buy elsewhere!! Now ordered for a lot cheaper from Dixons online - delivered Friday, and who knows if they'll do the steps or not....we have friendly neighbours.....
Frustrating thing is that we would have ordered it from Appliances Online without hesitation, but they hadn't got it in stock until early July!! Boo. I would recommend Appliances Online to anyone - they have NO problems with steps (the lovely delivery men managed to get a washer dryer up our steps with no problems!), unpack the appliance, take rubbish away, and the prices are great. Just wasn't worth the risk really - our fridge could properly die again any time and in this weather....... <sigh>
Oh and add in that our hoover died this afternoon too!!!
*Quietly rocking back and forth in the corner....*
Back in work almost-full-time from Monday...will be a welcome break after these last few weeks!
mum2one - looking forward to the challenge!!! And hopefully all your bad luck has gone now!
Angela - hope you're doing ok! Sending you hugs.
Hope you're all well!!

Clare - least you got your decorating done and new bedroom furniture ! Lucky you:j
I've been trawling internet looking at beds -we've got a 4 drawer divan -can't for the love of me remember how we got it up our stairway.........so after much looking and thinking that the 'stuff' we keep in the divan drawers is just that -'stuff' -and can be kept somewhere else (or even thrown out !) we're opting for a pine bed -no storage ! Hope I don't live to regret it..........mind you does seem if we have a drawer we somehow have to fill it...........lol
Young girl who comes to clean for me is coming tomorrow afternoon to help me de-clutter whats in our bedroom -thinking I must tidy up first or cringe with embarrassment.................lol :rotfl:I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Doing bit more tomorrow...........well not me really, young girl who cleans is actually doing the physical stuff but I did have a bit of a clear up before she came.
mum2one - daren't have underbed storage drawers -They'd only get filled with yet more 'stuff' and I'd have to do all this clearing out again next year...........lol
rufus - beautiful quilt............:T
Can't believe I've had a complete day without messing about with paper and glue.................lol:rotfl:I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Furniture is coming tomorrow - and then we have to put it together!! lol
Benefits of a pine bed though is you can put storage boxes etc under the bed! - mum2one beat me to it!! lol
Rufus - that quilt is amazing!!!! :T
Just watched the record breaking tennis match (well, the last hour of it!) and it's still not finished! Bless them. Bet they'll enjoy their beds tonight!

Hi girls
I really enjoy reading this thread as it's a good way to keep sane when other things are difficult in life. Although if Miss Hoodie is in charge for the next challenge I might go a bit mad LOL
Rufus - that quilt is fantastic - love the colours! The bed looks stunning.
Clare - sorry to hear about all the hassle you're been getting. I really hope you get everything sorted or you'll be rocking in that corner for a long time LOL.
Mary - it's really nice to hear you've got help in the house with all those chores as well as the dreaded clutter!
I started making a list of unexpected yet crucial things to do that ocurred over the last few days and caused no end of problems and all at the last moment when I was about to leave the house-
*SOS box to include safety pins (thanks Mary)
*re-do my keyrings and chain (got tangled up with my wallet and had to be cut )
*add extra info to emergency details on keychain
*2 drawers got stuck because they are too full
Today I had extra work as I broke the vinegar bottle inside the cupboard and had to try and decant it over a tea strainer into another bottle - made a right mess as you can imagine as it was pouring out the hole in the side LOL.0
