Thanks everyone for the tips on the Wii, all very much appriciated.

Elysia you have to put your family and kids first, I know its sad but its for the best. Our dog nipped while she was a pup but we had a muzzel which she had on when she did, she hated it (and still does) so she soon learnt if she nipped it when on and stopped, she still nips my ankles now and again when I wont let her upstairs when I'm going up, but then she gets the muzzel on. but if she bit one of the kids she would have to go we all love her to bits but the kids come fisrt.

Sorry everyone - nothing to do with money making or gift giving - I just needed to talk to someone.

Last July we adopted our dog from Dog's Trust. As she's a border collie, when she nipped we thought it was a sheepdog thing - like trying to round us up like sheep, sort of thing.

Tonight she bit DD2 (not for the first time but it was the worst) DD OK just shocked. Decided dog got to go back. I can't risk it with the DD2 (7) and my Neice here all day (4). Everyone crying (even OH). She lovely dog normally but for this one thing. I'm so mad with myself for letting it get this far - keep giving the dog one more chance - but they guilt tripping me - saying one more chance again - but what happens if the dog really injures her next time?

    Sorry for moan :(:(:(

Oh Elysia! We went through something similar with our dog when I was little. Lovely little dog but was a bit nippy and went for my brother. So I know how you feel hun. :( BIG hugs.

elyphant - thanks, we will as soon as hubby gets his bum in gear to tidy his side of the bedroom ready for a damp expert to come along!

Ladies - I'm going to start having a supply of baby milk tins now we're combination feeding - what crafty things can I use them for?? I'm currently thinking I can use one for storing some of my cross stitch bits, but what else?? Inspire me! lol

Come back Mary - We need you! :)

Mary would cover them, with fabric or paints and make up as presents. Emergency candles, batteries, mini torch etc. We used ours to keep screws and nails etc in the shed, it keeps them dry and rust free. Not very exciting though. ;)

Anglea is good at this too, I'm sure she will be ale to help.`:)

  • ELYSIA - poor you - you must be heart broken, I have 2 dogs both from the dogs home but I got mine when they were very young and thank goodness have had no problems - i don't have children but I know that if I did i would certainly be putting them first before the dogs.. Totally agree with what evryone has said..gotta go!!
On a different Note - thanks so much for the tips about the plants - i think I'll give your ideas a go - maybe do 2 hyacinths , 2 Amaryllis and two of the daffs.. that way I can give the ones I like best to he people I like best!!! If the others turn out good too - thats great extra gifts - if not I'll just try again next year!!

Its my sister in laws birthday tomorrow - I don't have musch to do with her so hadn't thought about her birthday - luckily brother has got her something on my behalf and its only cost £25 so i'm pleased as i usually allow about £40 for family ( even her because i love my brother!!)
Got a card for her from my collection - tend to buy the sets when the book man comes round as they are lovely cards and work out really cheap too.

Fathers day next month - i've been thinking about this a lot - my dad is a hard man to buy for - hes really interested in books - history, trains trams , cars etc and clocks... but he has so many my parents house is getting a bit ridiulous with 2 or 3 clocks in every room!!! especially as they aren't quite sinchronised so the oclock chiming can go on for 10 mins!!! Has anyone sorted a really good gift out for fathers day yet??

am working late everynight doing overtime so dont get on here til late but will be back tomorro to catch up with thread xx

Well done Nomorespending - that's £15 saved without even trying. :j

I bought my step-dad some trousers from Marks and Spencer (£3.50 the grabbit board but should be £20) and a Magners drinks set from BHS (£2.00 I think but should have been £10) in Jan sales. Nothing exciting but everything you buy he moans at, not because he's ungrateful but because he doesn't want us to spend too much. Little does he know. ;)

Before that I have our anniversary but that's sorted. My sister's birthday, got her gift too. Father's day - I have got Dad an aftershave set (Jan sales) and step-dad ( gifts above) and still got to get something off DD for OH. Thanks for reminding me. :D

Apart from the one Fathers day one to buy - I'm all sorted now until November. :money:

Nomorespending - where in the country do you live? I've been thinking in Derbyshire there's a place called Critch (or something like that) and there is a tram museum, the trams really work, and it's a fun day out for boys! You can even pay extra and be a tram driver for the day. Maybe there's something similar by you.

You say he likes history - how about a national trust membership? He could go to a different house or place each weekend. They are not all fuddy duddy anymore. Also the gift would last a whole year. If you buy there are some good deals and don't forget to by through quidco.

If I think of anything else, I'll let you know.

nomorespending, to add onto what Elysia said crich is definately a good day so is Peak rail if your in that area, there are lots of other good preserved railways around the country too and a lot will have things going on, on fathers day. We have the East Lancs Railway but there are lots of others around the country, let me know where you are and I will get the OH to dig out the leaflets he has as he and his dad are also into to trains and trams. If you are near Manchester the Metrolink are now running the New Yellow trams, think they have about 10 here now up and running and are worth a ride for any fan.

I definately would need a lie down after thinking of all of those! Brilliant ideas Mum2one - especially the retro sweets one. I'm going to do that for the fathers presents too (if you don't mind). Not a lot of cost but fills out the gifts a bit.
