Evening all!
Need to do some catching up on this thread me thinks. But wanted to share some good news - had a car accident (well, I was a pedestrian!) last November - VERY long story and could have been a lot worse but was really quite minor really, but caused my right knee to be swollen a bruised for quite a long time - still having problems with it now. Anyway, the insurance company (for the car) said I could make a personal injury claim, so I did, and just had a settlement firgure this week! A rather lovely amount too! Which means we can (hopefully!) not only sort out the damp problem in the house, but also revamp our bedroom - which is in desperate need! For a start, both our wardrobes are damp damaged....
So, yeay!
Will have catched up with you all a bit tomorrow I hope. Hope you've all ahd a lovely weekend!

hello everyone... I wondered if i could join this thread with you all. I only post on one other thread to keep me on track getting out of debt but have jsut started thinking that i need to get going with sorting out christmas.. I thought if I joined this it would keep it in my mind and I could start planning properly for everyone I have to buy for and making the most of wrap and stuff i get ( its my birthday next month).
I haven't gone right through this thread so please tell me if im in the wrong place..
I saw someones thread earlier saying they have set up several baskets which sounds likje a great idea - I have about 6 really nice red glittery ceramic plant pots i bought a couple of christmas's ago which i thought it might be nice to plant something now which will be a decent present giving size by christmas.. will have to research plants etc but jsut thought that might be a good gift which should only cost me time and bulbs or cuttings!!
off to read through some more pages of this thread xxBaby due 4th May 2013

Nomorespending- Welcome!! Wow, I love that idea, I would have never thought of actually doing that, but it would be ideal for my nana, thanks for the idea!!
Clare, that's brilliant about the payout, and like Elysia said, make sure you treat yourself to something nice too! Or at least do up the bedroom how YOU want lol! xx'Patience is a virtue till we die. Then a ripple in the water caught my eye'Mrs Jason Orange.Getting organized and thrifty for christmas 2010!0 -
Nomorespending - I love that idea too. Wait until September time and you could plant Hyacinths - they would be ready to flower at Christmas, OR my favourite Amaryllis, you could get those quite cheap from Wilkinsons. M&S charge a fortune for theirs in pots, but yours would look much better for a fraction of the cost. :T
Welcome to thread, Join in. The challenges will be posted on the 24th of the month - these are to get us organised and prepared, and come Christmas instead of running around like headless chickens, we can put our feet up (hopefully).
You may be interested in the other thread too - Money making for Christmas. This thread is about buying the presents (and finding bargains), the other one is about making the money to pay for them. Jamtart usually sets the challenges on there (1st of the month on that one) but she's AWOL for a while, so we've been setting our own. Ebay, writing reviews, doing surveys, carboots anything to get some Christmas funds.
So, feel welcome to join us, and don't forget to post and tell us your bargains, or any good ideas.I :heartpuls M.S.E.Mortgage Free 18/01/10 13 years and 8 months early on a 20 year mortgage!

Welcome to Nomorespending, get yourself a notebook and make a list of who you have to get for if there is anyone else not receiving plants (fab idea too), thats what most of us do, then you can make a note of what you have got already or what you want to get and cross it off as you go. I do this for birthdays as well so keeps me organised right through the year.
Maryop, hope you have a lovely holiday xx
Cdsmiler, congrats on your payout, be nice to get your bedroom done, I still only have mine half done, had the feature wall paper up since way back in the year, just need to get the paper for the other walls and put it up.
Three headless bears are stuffed, waiting for the noses to come now so I can finish their faces off and sew the heads on.0 -
When my son (now 33 nearly) was little I used to tell him he was made out of plasticne like morph when he was born and if he was naughty that I used to roll him up in a ball and put him away until he was good again. He used to love morph on the tv and really believed it, even told his play school teachers that he was made out of plasticne when he was little lol. Well its his birthday this month and I have got him some tshirts but last week on Amazon, one of their Deals of the Week on toys was a make your own Morph set which was only £6 something so I have ordered it for him. Cant wait to see his face when he opens it xx0
