The sensor bar comes with the wii but you definately need 2 nunchucks. You should have one in the box with the console, with two exciteable lads though, if funds allow, buy two wireless ones!

A charging dock is a good idea too - but get one with four docks incase you ever buy more remotes (we only have a two charger but 3 remotes and it's a nightmare). It'll cost you a fortune in batteries otherwise.

Checkout the grabbit board for the best prices on Wii games - I bought Hannah Montana this week (OK not for boys LOL) but it was only £3.96. :j

Don't bother (unless you think they would like it) buying light sabers/fishing rods/steering wheels/ and bits and peices to add on, they just aren't needed and get forgotten or broken. Waste of money!

p.s. Thanks for the coundown Sarah :xmassmile:rudolf::snow_laug

    Hi Sarah

Jotted down a few thoughts / more links from Amazon, in the box you get the bar - we put ours on the front of the TV

We did get a lot of everything, just coz thought we needed it, what I've done over the last few months was add her collection to 4 controllers, 4 nunchucks, but we just have 2 motion sensors, - just means they pick up every movement

The box should have 1 controller and 1 nunchuck with it - Amazon links and quick note.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nintendo-Wii-Remote-Controller/dp/B000IMWK2G/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1274100121&sr=8-4

    controllers - £17.50

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nintendo-Wii-Nunchuk-Controller-add/dp/B000IMYKQ0/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1274100121&sr=8-11

nunchucks - £9.49 - 1 per handset - the wii sports game - need them for wrestling

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Official-Wii-Wheel-Remote-Included/dp/B0013B30SY/ref=sr_1_19?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1274100304&sr=8-19

wheel -£5.97 - 1 per handset - if your got / getting the kart games - (mario cart -one game comes with the steering wheel)
Only buy if you going to be useing that type of games

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intec-Balance-Board-Rechargeable-Battery/dp/B00166MPV4/ref=sr_1_24?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1274100304&sr=8-24

rechargable unit - if you have the fitness board £2.70 - we got the board, not got round to using it, but it is on the 2 do list

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sports-Utility-Pack-Wii/dp/B000OVV64O/ref=sr_1_36?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1274100451&sr=8-36

sports accesory set - ideal if you have sporty games £3.00 + £2 postage - suggest getting set per handset, - might not use them much, but at that price handy, esp the golf on sports packages (I just got 2 sets, they don't come out that much, but at that price their handy

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wii-Motion-Plus-Accessory/dp/B001TOQ8NO/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1274100652&sr=8-7

wii motion sensors - not necessary - we've got 4 controllers, only 2 have thesensors

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Just-Dual-Charging-Station-Wii/dp/B000V1KQ52/ref=sr_1_27?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1274100790&sr=8-27

    dual charging station £5.94

This is an absolute must, save a fortune on batteries...

    Ebay-

Pick up odds and sods like skins - better to get different colours, then each boy has their own, saves the that's mine arguement!!

    Argos

Always look through there, they've always got offers on wii

    Play.com - good prices

Asda - competative prices, - free postage

    xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

Thanks girls, knew you would all help. Not even open the Wii box so didn't know it had a sensor bar, so thanks for that. Just got another Wii controler this morning off amazon it was £15.99 and has a silicon caseing round it. Have been keeping my eyes out for cheap games but I definately want ones they can play together save the arguments.

Like the idea of the skins so they are not arguing over the remote and definately think I will get a pink one for me LOL

    Thanks again.

    I agree with the nunchucks!

I also agree with most of the plastic casing things (pool cue, boxing gloves, gun etc) being a waste of time, but I really enjoy the steering wheel ones for Mario Kart!

Something else you should consider - does the Wii have the new Wii Sports resort? If so, the boxed up remote will come with a Motion Plus add on for the controller, but you'll need another for the other controller. The Motion Plus addons come with new silicon casing for the entire remote as it makes it longer.... so don't buy additional silicon casings (different colours etc) unless they fit the controllers WITH the Motion Plus attached.

Which games have you bought? We could probably recommend some games if you needed? Not necessarily the cheapest games, but I always think that if a game will get good use out of it, you might as well spend that bit more.

It's a shame you bought an additional controller already actually, because the game "Wii Play" comes with one!!! Worth remembering if you decide to get a 3rd controller!

Thanks clare, hoping to get 4 controllers before xmas, as it is the main xmas pressie for the boys and us too :D hence me wanting a pink one so no one pinches it.

Think the Wii came with one game not sure which though, have got sonic tennis, Dr who tops trumps, and a couple of daft party type ones, they are all well hidden and can't remember the name of them lol :rotfl:

Want to get Mario Kart as DS2 loves that on his DS, any others suggestions for a 9 and 6 year old (well will be 10/7 at xmas) but think my mum is getting them that as she bought them steering wheel attachments the other week.

Any game suggestions would be great, like you said the more they are played with the better.

    Thanks

The wii play is the most used game in our house, so can recommend that one.

Super Mario Olymics and winter olympics, and the new Super Mario Bros (Red case - arcade style game). They are all brilliant - the trouble is their prices are always high - try and buy them when on offer, two for a certain price etc.

Edited to add - the Ravin Rabbids series are funny - We have Rabbids Go Home (but be warned it has swearing) that's addictive, and also Rayman Raving Rabbids TV party. Both really good.

Oops keep editing this post to add more as I think of it! The Sims ones are quite good too (DD2 aged 7 likes them). Are they into Lego - there are loads of ones with themes like star wars, I think. Sorry I can't be of more use - we have daughters, and neices so into girly stuff!

  • Hello..

Thanks for all the welcomes onto the thread.. really appreciate it!

Spent ages researching flowers / plants which will flower at christmas time - read lots about Hyacinths last night and thought I might try those - although the recommentdations are to grow in a shallow ish bowl and the plant post is have are square and quite deep - thanks for the Amaryllis idea Elysia i;ll check those out tonight on the net..

I've made a list of everyone i need to buy for and ideas of what i can get them on a word document and saved it onto my desk top -I can't be trusted with note pads as I end up using them for other stuff then losing them etc etc..!!

I have a present cupboard which has got some lovely gold candles I picked up in january sales - they are glittery and lovely, as i don;t know who will have what i thought i might just one in each female present basket - i don't have baskets yet but will pick some up when see some bargains.

Thanks for the info about the sister threads .. I'll go and have a mooch on there - am feeling a lot less stressed about christmas now i know i'm doing something about it!!

    see you tomorrow
