Hi all
Clare, I'm collecting jam jars as I wanted to have a load in time for summer, jam etc. But I always use them for all sorts of things in the kitchen e.g. I weigh out in advance the flour, atora etc for making dumplings as well as the dry ingredients for crumble. Then use it for other dry things like currants, sugar, pasta, cous cous etc. So I've got a collection of empty jars round the kitchen and always finding a new use for them especially since reading all the organising threads. I seem to be getting quite obsessed with jars at the minute
Mary, the sewing box is a good idea for a pressie for DS although it's possible he's got all that kind of thing already (somewhere) as he's the one I've mentioned here before that bought all the material to make his own coat and I have a vague recollection of giving him some things years ago. Perhaps he took it with him when he left home.
I made up an emergency one in a plastic box and had to put it in the computer room at home as I realised I don't have anywhere else to put it. If I put it in his room it will disappear, like everything else does.
Got me thinking about mum2one's challenge, box of emergency stuff for power cut, even if I had a box I haven't got anywhere to put it as such. So will need to re-organise and find room. I do keep small torches round the house upstairs and down. I have a fear of my special needs son being in the bath and the power going off..
Mary, going shopping with your hands in your pockets LOL .0 -

While as it was the great April fools day - did anyone fall for any fools.
Little confession - thou think mums blood pressure went through the roof!!
Bit of fun, we designed a party invite (actually Miss Hoodie did all the clip art, and I did the text boxes!), asking everyone to keep 1st July free, as its mums 65th Birthday and that Miss Hoodie and I are arranging a surprise party.
Posted one to mum - as if we'd sent one to her by mistake!!
When the post come she blew a gasket, flew off and dad and had a right go at him (the poor bloke didn't know anything about it), then stomped the best she could upstairs...... and threw another paddy, literally got steam coming out of her ears,"I'm not going, your be sorting it out, and you made a mistake and sent me the invite, I could spend that money on better things" - at this point I just burst into laughter (went down like a ton of epsom salts), and Miss Hoodie shouted out APRIL FOOLS.
Better explain the history!!
There 40th wedding anniversary - dd was 4ths months old- arranged surprise meal, 24 people in total, friends and family, she saw them, threw a wobbly and spent 30mins locked in the toilet, the landlady was even going to serve her meal to her in the loo. Dad he enjoyed it, afterwards she did admit it was a shock, but the nicest things that anyone had done.
Then her 60th bday,,,,,, she didn't want anything, but kept reminding us that dad had a party for his 60th, he went in a 2 seater plane and had go at flying, his 65th he'd had a 4x4 off road experience.
So I arranged another surprise party, different pub, (couldn't face a repeat) had a ngtmare with the last minute arrangements, we had only come back from hol on the sat..... Sunday lunch for 30......she got to the door, saw the ballons and refused to come in......so we had the party without the guest of honour.
It was worth it to see her face.
May have some news on the holiday front, found a trip same hotel in June, 10 days, about £100 cheaper than what we had paid for Easter. So if can get the money (raid bank account, dads credit card, going to see if we can book) then repay as soon as the insurance pay outs.
Hopefully the school authorise the time off, they do say 5 days, but technically we'd need 8......
Hope to get it sorted ova weekend. xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Fingers crossed about the holiday mum2 one. April fool joke was brilliant idea lol.0
