I can't keep up with them let alone do them...........still, I'm going to have a serious go at doing a family scrapbook for my two boys for christmas this year.....would have been going to my first scrapbook class this week if I hadn't bashed my knee (mind you its that cold out there not sure I'd have been that keen !);)
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

    Hi all

I've just been catching up on here and noticed all the quilts.

There is an exceptionally quick and easy method that some people use to make quilts by hand in a couple of days. You need for 1 square -

1 x 6 inch fabric circle (hem it first) -lay it on the table
Then wadding or thick felt on top in the middle -4 inches square
Then a 4 inch square in a different colour on top

Now, fold the circle edges up over the square and stitch round the edges, straight through all 3 layers. When you finish going round the circle it's finished.. Then make as many as needed and join the edges together. That's your finished quilt, no other sewing, backing etc needed..

Anglea - I'm sorry but you've totally lost me. I think I'll have to have a go and try to figure it out properly. :)

Here's a link to the family tree kit I chose. I wanted to choose something more 'grown up' but she will be only just one, and the others were either too expensive or too technical. I hope you don't mind me posting it regularly as I do it, it will keep me focused, as I tend to give up half way through. It was more than I wanted to pay, thank goodness I still had a tenner in paypal!

I'm to be a Godmother in May, and the baby's Dad is really keen on tracing his family tree (that's how I met them, his mum is my mum's cousin and we never knew until last February)

I can make a cross stitch of a family tree for Khloe - It's perfect. I'm off to search on ebay. Thanks for such a brilliant idea!!!

A massive thank you, love the sound of the cross stitch, its really unusual and something that can be kept.

we had the 4 sets of tooth and haircuts holders
    6 christening braclets
    if was fun!!

Thanks for mentioning this.... is it called Cathedral Patchwork? It looks lovely when finished, but far too complicated for me! Think it might take more than a couple of days for me to make anything like this, especially as it's all hand sewn. I do have a pattern for a bag made in a similar way, but using 2 sizes of hexagons with the wadding between. It's on the 'To Do' list....!

Have you made anything from this technique, would love to see it if you have please.

Then land line phone started buzzing -again:mad: Engineer only came out on Friday ! So thinking I'll have to have words with BT -again !

Evidently BT engineers have a fixed time to spend on each call (say 20 mins per call, not sure what it is exactly), and if they haven't sorted it in that time, they have to leave to get to their next call, and book you another call! (That's what a friend of ours who still works for them told us at the weekend).
