Mum2one few ideas for you
A hamper from the year she was born??
Or you could find out something that happened on her birthday for the last 65 years, maybe do a scrapbook type thing with it IYKWIM
Like the 65 reasons why I didn't buy you anything although cant think of any lol:rotfl::D:D:D:D
Where's the Coffee?? Show me the Coffee NOW!!0 -
A slight hitch with my birthday present planning.
Sods law this year we've got -
2 x 18th (sorted) - Morgan Watch (was £44 reduced to £11 in Argos) main present each dd got them a 18th plaque (good old halfcost £1)
1 x 30th - Not sure on main, going to try and locate a Morgan watch, if not £15 itunes vouchers - silly bits - shes working out in Afganastain for the Naffi for 6 months, so postage (phew0
mums friend 60th - we've raided spare Soap and Glory, mum giveing me £30 to finish it
Then been sorting out next yrs holiday off to Dom Rep for my 40th...
BUT THE
BIG BUT
Mums 65th - means a box of 65 gifts.... + special present - Budget £120 maximum
Got more toilettries than Boots the chemist
Only wears sleepers - coz dog chews them out, she can't wear studs
Doesn't wear jewellery unless she goes out - rare
hates holidays - mobility lets her down
had boxes for her 50th, then for her 60th - 10 boxes of 60 presents (60 pencils, 60 pens, 60 mini toilettires etc)
Loves Nigel hemming Spainel Prints - but has 4 not put up
Doesn't read books
Doesn't each much chocolates
Got wardrobe and draws of clothes she doesn't wear
When I did a surprise 40th wedding anniversary party - she hid in the loo for an hour
Her 60th Birthday party - organised a meal for 30 friends and family, flowers, cake really went to town, she got as far as the door and refused to come in!! So the star gues didn't turn up
Although she's my mother shes a pain, as she throws things back in your face, related to what dad had for his special bdays
60th - he had a party (see above for hers)
65th- 4 x 4 off road experience, and a ballon ride
70th - He had a Rally driving experience
Last year - we, (him, me, miss hoodie) - went in a helicopter (she wouldn't of been able to get in.
Hense you can see what I'm up against.
So far seen a clock that you put your own photos in £12.00
HELP
ps if anyone sees anything on freebies etc plz give me a kick xx
pps - the other reason I feel that I have to do something a bit specal, she lost her brother last week, and its families but theres a lot of not quite rights along the way, and I have a gut feeling that theres going to be a family explosion, x
Sounds like my mum, it's a nightmare every Mother's Day, birthday and Christmas knowing what to get her!
Are you at all crafty? If you are, how about a memory album, with pics of her and your dad, you & your family etc. etc.. You can get albums quite cheaply in the craft shops and papers, you just need to put the photos in and embellish a bit with.... embellishments, for want of a better word! (Flower stickers, buttons, beads etc. etc.).Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

It isn't Cathedral quilting, although I have completely forgotten the name of it.
I've used it to make dolls house quilts (1 square required) and it's also good for making small bags that could be used for scissors, pins etc - you only need 3 squares for that. But it's the simplest and quickest way I've come across to make a large quilt very fast. If you pre-cut everything it takes seconds to make a square ready quilted!!!!
If anyone needs better instructions PM.
Mum2One - what about some mini concertina type scapbooks for your mum? You could also make one of those little bags that I mentioned in the para above.
Ur a star
the bags no good of her with crutches, and handbags she a fuss pot, but the mini scrapbook should be able to have a bash at.xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
What a night, never mind Miss Hoodie........I know were all money saving converts and all try our best to convert the family, but I'm sorry to say had to refuse tonight!
2ngt......finally got dd to bed 8.30pm, then loo at 10pm for me she still pratting around, told her toilet, then back to bed... 5 mins later she comes down I did a big poo... it was that big I've blocked the loo... but I flushed again and it went away..... (bit to much information!!!)
half an later, there off to bed..........she had blocked the loo... so without the grusome details, dads trying to sort it with pink rubber gloves.... shouts me from downstairs to come and find a metal coathanger.... bare in mind mums sat at the end of her bed in absolute stitches...... he does the deed.......then says do you want me to straighten the coathanger back out!!xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

helen_jelly wrote: »Mum2one - would she like something like a paid for visit to the hairdresser that she uses or something for the garden that she would use or enjoy looking at [garden bench, rose bush etc] [Your Mum is exactly like my Mum - impossible to buy for] or a family tree or a nice album full of pictures of your DD and any other grandchildren - sorry but I'm stuck now!!
Helen x
hairdressers she has her hair to short,so thats a no-no, the garden bench Bailey has now claimed as his, so funny as Whisky use to sit on it before.
They've got one of those seats with the table that joins them.
Photos shes got a few, but as we live with them she has the real thing.
The family tree idea - brilliant, u just reminded me when dd and I went to Wooky Hole last year, I got a piece of handmade paper, preprinted family tree, goes back one generation, and one of friends she does the posh writing, so ask her to do it. Thou the downside, she lost her 1st daughter with cancer when she was 18mths old, it couldn't be a main present.
Do Jammies 65 no's - that is fab
for my bday, I'm having a new tv for the bedroom, mine is the old fashioned bulky one - 16yrs old in immaculate condition, but coz had to put freeview box with it, can't have the dvd player pluged in. Theres nothing else I need. Choose one in Argos
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5294804/Trail/searchtext%3ETV.htm
She then decided its about time their TV got changed.... think they'd better have the black.
Me sorted - just got to get her something for dd and sure "choose something for dad".
xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
mum2one - she sounds like a nightmare in the nicest possible way!!!!
I'll get thinking for you! How about a box filled with 65 reasons that you didn't buy her anything special
Trust me - she is a nightmare... I can always loan her out.
Also just thought we get the next batch of acts at our theatre March/Apr, so may book tickets, shes off to see Joseph, so thats gd going. xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
