loopychris - BT chappie was here longer than 20 minutes...........weird as today its been okay -least it was when I rang mobile folk to cancel contract and order another one from different network - one that hopefully works...................lol:rotfl:

Not done a lot today apart from making little hat for Noddy egg cup and paint the edges of a slatted box someone gave me..........tomorrow I'll cover it with paper -it'll be just right to put tea lights in for sons birthday shoe box.
Did make long phone call to friend who'd been ill........cheered her up so time not totally wasted.
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

A slight hitch with my birthday present planning.

Sods law this year we've got -
2 x 18th (sorted) - Morgan Watch (was £44 reduced to £11 in Argos) main present each dd got them a 18th plaque (good old halfcost £1)

1 x 30th - Not sure on main, going to try and locate a Morgan watch, if not £15 itunes vouchers - silly bits - shes working out in Afganastain for the Naffi for 6 months, so postage (phew0

mums friend 60th - we've raided spare Soap and Glory, mum giveing me £30 to finish it

Then been sorting out next yrs holiday off to Dom Rep for my 40th...

    BUT THE
    BIG BUT
    Mums 65th - means a box of 65 gifts.... + special present - Budget £120 maximum

Got more toilettries than Boots the chemist

Only wears sleepers - coz dog chews them out, she can't wear studs

Doesn't wear jewellery unless she goes out - rare
hates holidays - mobility lets her down

had boxes for her 50th, then for her 60th - 10 boxes of 60 presents (60 pencils, 60 pens, 60 mini toilettires etc)

Loves Nigel hemming Spainel Prints - but has 4 not put up

    Doesn't read books

    Doesn't each much chocolates

Got wardrobe and draws of clothes she doesn't wear

When I did a surprise 40th wedding anniversary party - she hid in the loo for an hour

Her 60th Birthday party - organised a meal for 30 friends and family, flowers, cake really went to town, she got as far as the door and refused to come in!! So the star gues didn't turn up

Although she's my mother shes a pain, as she throws things back in your face, related to what dad had for his special bdays

60th - he had a party (see above for hers)
    65th- 4 x 4 off road experience, and a ballon ride
70th - He had a Rally driving experience

Last year - we, (him, me, miss hoodie) - went in a helicopter (she wouldn't of been able to get in.

Hense you can see what I'm up against.

So far seen a clock that you put your own photos in £12.00

    HELP

ps if anyone sees anything on freebies etc plz give me a kick xx

pps - the other reason I feel that I have to do something a bit specal, she lost her brother last week, and its families but theres a lot of not quite rights along the way, and I have a gut feeling that theres going to be a family explosion, x

This may sound a bit double dutch, as I can't exactly name the company but I can explain how I had a discount voucher -

As you all know I rave about a certain company on the internet that sells things as cheaper than the cost price

This is the best way I can explain - bit lon wided apologies (but bwst thing I could think of)
As in our household theres 3 adults. we each have our own email address and over the last couple of years different members of the family have paid for their orders.

But the last few I have paid for...

The other 2 adults recieved offers - 1st 25% off £50 spend. the other person recieved £15 off £50 spend

So as a family we (or rather I) choose some items for the house and extras on the £1 line....... and kids gifts etc etc to get for christmas and spares for when Miss Hoodie has a party invite, rather than doing the headless chic spend £10 when I only really wanted to spend £5.... but with items purchased in advance I could give the girls a pink jewellery shoe box at £1.oo

Joke this - answers on a post card - they might not do the offer again this year but for anyone using their OH be worth a try

If you do need the name PM me xx

Thanks for mentioning this.... is it called Cathedral Patchwork? It looks lovely when finished, but far too complicated for me! Think it might take more than a couple of days for me to make anything like this, especially as it's all hand sewn. I do have a pattern for a bag made in a similar way, but using 2 sizes of hexagons with the wadding between. It's on the 'To Do' list....!

Have you made anything from this technique, would love to see it if you have please.

It isn't Cathedral quilting, although I have completely forgotten the name of it.

I've used it to make dolls house quilts (1 square required) and it's also good for making small bags that could be used for scissors, pins etc - you only need 3 squares for that. But it's the simplest and quickest way I've come across to make a large quilt very fast. If you pre-cut everything it takes seconds to make a square ready quilted!!!!

If anyone needs better instructions PM.

Mum2One - what about some mini concertina type scapbooks for your mum? You could also make one of those little bags that I mentioned in the para above.

I ordered a free badge off the freebie board that says 'I'm a Great Lover' with big red heart on it............lol Not for me though...........thought teenage grandson would find it a bit of a giggle at Christmas when he gets it....................lol

Phones............sorry to rant on...........just had three phone calls and phone was buzzing so much couldn't hear who it was (was ok this afternoon)
OH swapped phones over -one from lounge now in the kitchen where the 'buzzing' was going on and what do you know...............no buzzing..............phone from kitchen that he plugged in the lounge is buzzing like a bumble bee........................ So, methinks I called BT out for nothing:mad:#

jamtart -you beat me to it.........
with 65 reasons that you didn't buy her anything special

helen Think the rosebush (or whatever plant she likes) is a good idea........so's the family tree.
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !
