Oh dear..........there should be one that does just what I want...........phone, text and camera..........thats all -nothing else............what a moaning minnie I am..........nothings ever quite right for grumpy me is it...............lol

Mary.... OH was on Virgin on a basic phone for a while and when ever he got sent a photo message Virgin sent him a text with a code to see it online on their website so he could still get them and then save them too direct onto the computer, HTH and I've not added more choices for you hun....

I hate my phone wish I could go back to the old style ones too with the proper buttons lol

    Hi Draig

Top pieced is if your doing a patchwork quilt, once you have put all your pieces together it is "pieced". Usually you just do the top like this but some at the class I went to used up odd fabrics for the back too.

Basted is just tacked together through the top, wadding and backing so that the bits dont move about when you are quilting them together otherwise you will end up with bumpy bits. We were taught to do tack across both ways in a grid.

I use anything I can get my hands on for the backing of mine. The other ones I did for Xmas for my Grandchildren I bought secondhand duvet covers in the Oxfam shop and used that. For my daughters one I bought sheeting fabric in Dunelm Mill.

I'll dig out a pic in a minute of one of the Grandson's ones and put it on. Am in the middle of making two double bed ones at the moment for my eldest daughter and my son.

Here's a pic. I did three of these. one for each Grandson. My Grandaughter had a slightly smaller one in pinks and lilacs but I dont have a pic of hers. My daughters one is on here somewhere.

    Rufus - that is fantastic!

I did quilting once at school, hexagonal peices which with bits of cardboard inside. Do you still do it like that now or am I just ancient?

Hi elysia, you can do it like that, I remeber making one in hexagonal shapes too with the cardboard but the way I have been doing mine is much easier, you make up smal squares by machining bits of fabric together then you sew the squares into strips long enough for your quilt, then you sew the strips together sideways to make the width. This makes it much easier and quicker to do especially when I had 5 to make from September to Christmas lol. You can get books which show you how to do all this and they are not that dear to buy, I was lucky as my SIL who went with me to the classes had a book already which I have borrowed.

Sorry the pic is so big, I have altered it on photobucket but its not altering on this forum for some reason xx
  • Hi guys, forst time poster here but have been following this thread since the end of December when it started! Decided I wanted to get involved this year and have been working my way through the Jan 24 Challenges... quite pleased with myself so far!

Anyway, we've just had an invite - for this Sunday! - to a friends baby boys christening. Now I just wondered what ideas you guys had either for a home made gift - something thats not too difficult given I'm just starting with the crafting and have only 3 evenings and Saturday - to do or something MSE to buy the wee one?

    Thanks in advance!
