  • Who r these crazy people who wouldn't pick up a two poundcoin?! As a child I got into the habit of walking with my head to the floor. I have found £20 notes in the dark, under leaves. I am a magpie.
  • During a particularly skint spell at the start of the year, I began to notice just how often often I actually saw a penny lying...which I always pick up for luck.
I made a bit of a joke of it with my kids...and we decided to start putting any found money in a box....to see just how much there was.
Don't get me wrong....we haven't become rich on it....but since March we have 'found' £6.71! Apart from one lucky pound coin, that's all made up of small coins....and about 90% of them come from the floor of Asda! We're going to keep collecting it until we have enough to pay for a treat...the cinema or bowling alley maybe...the sort of thing I can't normally afford to do....it will be a lovely present for my kids, courtesy of all the people who can't be bothered to pick up what they drop! :j
  • I saved about £13 in 2009 from 1p, 2p and 5p coins many of which were just picked up in the street. Each year my family choose a local charity to donate it to.

Not sure about bending down to pick cash up---I found £200 left in a cash machine one christmas eve (I can understand leaving a receipt behind but how can anyone forget to take the cash?), and they never claimed it from the police.

I'd pick up a 5p or more, but probably not bother with a 1p or 2p.

When I was at school it was "fashionable" with a lot of kids to throw away any coppers/small change they had in their pockets, especially after visiting the canteen. Odd way to seem cool if you ask me!
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.

I've only come across it twice, but I was horrified to see people throwing their small change on the ground. What ungrateful behaviour. Once I was walking behind a group of school girls in the park and I asked why they were doing it, as I hoovered up the coins and they laughed at me and said something so that pathetic people like me can have some cash  Whatever, I always look on the ground and have been rewarded nicely in the past. Or rather rewarded often :D

    Anything silver, gold or paper!
Leave the coppers for people who need them

    5p and up!!!
    Almost Debt free!
  • Interesting thread this - I used to think I was the only one to pick up money. Another good place to find money is near a bus stop.
  • Option J should not be included as it is a subset of option A.

The poll is about what you would pick up and not about what you would do with what you pick up.

I work in a cinema, and I frequently find money at work, and you bet I pick it
up. Any notes get handed in to lost property but they seldom get claimed, so I get them after a month. :j
