Bang goes my beeing good. My DD needed pr of shoes and pr of jeans. So £35.98 spent there. Dont think my budget is going to make it. Do you think i was beeing too optomistic? £100 for DD and me. However i did notice i had been put down for £175 for the year. Am i cheating if i go with that amount?
Please help! My DD is 15yr old and the amount was for all her clothes, school and otherwise and mine.
I was really good by the way because its nearly an hours drive to my nearest town and shops (she had to go to orthondontist) and although the shops are full of lovely clothes i would dearly love, i didn't even touch.Debt at 01/01/2010 £130 MBNA :T

Swinstie73 - Yes I have to confess I have kept a couple of pieces that are still in my wardrobe for sentimental reasons.:o
I have a rather nice inky blue and deep purple flowery/chrysathamum type of print shirt I got from Camden market.....erm 25 years ago when I was a Art Student. Wore it to death for the next few years...was known for always wearing it.lol!
Could never part with it...too many good memories are in that shirt!
The best thing is I dug it out the other week and if I take off the breast pockets and put new shell buttons it I think it will be fine to wear it again!
Or am I going to look like mutton wearing lamb?:(If you get my drift.
Also have a Meatloaf tour t shirt that is about 15 years old -love it-wore it when I went to see him again the other year- loads of people asked if it was original(its so washed out as well.lol) and if I was willing to sell it - no way -:)Crazy Clothes Challenge 2012 £57.20/£100,CCC 2013 £68.67/£100 ,CCC 2014 £94.32/£100

I had a cardigan that I loved in one way, it was stripy and bright but didn't like in another - was in thick wool so was often way too hot, and was cut a bit funny so never really looked right on. In the end I cut the sleeves off and turned it into a cushion. The buttons up the front look like a design feature. It was really easy to do as well - and cheap, just bought a big cushion pad from ikea for a few quid.
So maybe if you have something you love and can't bear to throw out you could re-use. For example if you love the design on a t-shirt, could you applique it onto a tote bag or a cushion or could you use the fabric in something else??
I have to admit to being a bit ruthless with a hen weekend t-shirt - it had a photo thing on it which was fab fun at time but obv. could never wear again but I couldn't get the darn thing off and was a bit gutted at the waste of a perfectly good white Dotty P's t-shirt! It is now in a pile of other t-shirts waiting to be turned into a bath mat!
I do have a few sentimental items - a green ballgown thing I made when I was 17 for our Christmas Ball is one....it is currently lurking in my parents loft.
How about the bridesmaid dilemma - what have other people done with bridesmaid dresses they've worn????? Have two of those babies.I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills

Ha, I have a bridesmaid dress lurking in a suitcase in the loft. Only ever been one once at my sister's wedding when I was 14 (and quite skinny), I used to try it on every so often to see if it still fitted me and it did up until about 5 years ago i.e. when I was 31! Now I'm just a bloater, ha!0

Thanks!
One I did pay for although was actually a bargain from Monsoon in the sale, was a wedding dress but added turquoise sash.
Maybe I should get married to get value out of it :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
The other my friend paid for in its entirety and I know it was pricey.....I've got my own flat :j:j

I've got 2 in my parents place.
Keep meaning to do '80s bridesmaid at a Hallowe'en party one year as one of the dresses is an '80s classic - dusky pink with HUGE sleeves and a HUGE skirt. Wore it the year Pretty in Pink came out...ah, happy memories!

I was never a bridesmaidbut I did get married twice
DD LOVED my first wedding dress (an 80s delight) as I lopped off one of the flounces so she could wear it as fancy dress. The things I did to make her happy!I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Hello all & welcome to our latest recruit rosepink :hello:
Hi luxor - hope you're not ill - I think you're just too good at this challenge
As to bridesmonster dresses ... I was 14. It was vile & I'm just about over it now. Moving on ...
Carrieon - well if I put you down for £175 then that's what you shall have *lula waves magic wand* :rotfl: £100 for both of you was definitely way too ambitious - 15 year olds are still growing & I dont challenge my DD as I dont think its fair & she's quite happy with primarni at the moment ...
I too used to keep sentimental clothes - Had a pair of jeans for years & years & years that went to a lot of great gigs with me but I wouldnt wear them again so out they went.
shrimpy80 - good girl, just dont even look :T
I'm only here as off work due to DD having vile vomiting virus which kept us up all night. Am just waiting for it to attack me ... oh well, might lose some more weigh without feeling denied
stay strong girls & boys :A0 -
Thanks Lula-Hula. It was a tinchy bit adventorous wasn't it? Feel a little happier now. Your magic wand has worked wonders. Now do you think there is any possibility that you could wave it again and make me 30years younger.
Hope your DD feels better soon and that she doesn't pass on the dreaded germs to you...weight loss or not.Debt at 01/01/2010 £130 MBNA :T
