Yes I do the putting all the little bits into the big bags on the bus on the way home lol.
Yes my mum looks at me gone out if I dont buy anything! lol.
I finished all my xmas shopping in October last year - then I did a temp contract with Thorntons direct, so on top of everything else, just because I got a discount I felt that I needed to buy lots of extra pressies - that was really not needed just because everybody else was buying it.
Then, I end up buying extras because one of my neices has got a little more than the other etc - its a vicious circle!

  • Well, still no new purchases or real temptations here. Spending my time on more constructive things and steering clear of the shops, although my determination to get myself that phone ASAP means I am even less likely to find anything tempting.

Ok ladies quick question, can you/would you wear navy and orange together??

I have a navy pencil skirt, navy shoes (which I've just re-cycled from strapped to slip on - I actually snapped the strap trying to get them on, was too lazy to open then) and a navy bag. I've never worn them as couldn't find much that went but I tried them on with an orange v-neck jumper and it looks rather nice, I also have an orange bag if navy is too much. I don't want to get laughed at in the street, advice please!

    Absolutely

It's the shade or tone of colours that really count. I have recently started wearing a red cardi with a brown skirt which may sound yuck but when you add in another colour like off white & add a belt or scarf with one or two of the colours then it all somehow seems to work. Well, I think it does & as yet no one has fallen to the floor blinded by my colour sense :rotfl:

Most importantly; if you think it looks good then you will feel confident wearing the outfit & therefore look totally fabulous :j

One of the things I like best about this challenge is trying out new combinations as, like so many others I've previously always tended to wear the same old things that 'go together'.
  • Hello All

Just checking in - still same total as last time,so really pleased.

I went round to my friends last week and helped to sort through her wardrobe - her reason she is downsizing from house to flat and presetnly has a built in huge triple wardrobe and will be going down to a small double and one chest of drawers.

So we were really good and divided into charity, sell or keep - so will be helping her at a table top sale next weekend -might do the same with some of mine- anyway she gave me this gorgeous BNWT dressy little black frilly shirt with white print of flamingos on it as a thank you for helping - she bought it in the sale last summer for £8 at half price and decided she did not like it and never returned it!.:T

    Yay! Really chuffed!

Good luck everyone this month - we can do it!

I cant remember who it was who was so glad when I said that Dorothy Perkins are on quidco :o BUT I had an email from quidco yesterday to say that if you register your debit / credit card with them then you can now get the cashback when you buy in the shop :j

There are few shops that have signed up to this new move & they are trying hard to get more on board too :D

I think that online shopping is very very dangerous. As you say it's not even like spending real money, click clickety click & then a few days later postie brings you new clothes ... where does money come into it

T'is me again with another question!

Does anyone find they hang onto clothes for sentimental reasons?? I have a t-shirt I bought in Boston but it's starting to shrink and look too short (or is it me who is getting bigger) dunno, anyway it's been in the charity box and back out again. I wear it alot but thought it was time to go, it reminds me of when I bought it (ahem 10 years ago)! Also now don't laugh but I have another t-shirt I bought in Niagara Falls (it's resigned to wearing to bed), but it is TWENTY TWO years old and I can't part with it, am I mad?!

P.S. I have no problems parting with things I've only worn once!

Swinstie - FINALLY somebody who understands. I keep clothes due to the memories a lot of the time, people laugh that I do this. I have a black fluffy bag from about 6 years ago, from a time when I was truely happy in School (lol) was happy with who I was, and this bag reminds me of that, and certain people in particular. Its been in the trash/charity bag so many times, and its starting to look tatty so never used but i cant say goodbye! lol.

    YES!
I've hung onto things for years for sentimental reasons and then got rid of them in the end because new events have taken the place of the old ones.
Also, for me now, there's the question of feng shui - I think that by holding onto things we are often holding onto energies in our minds that we might be best letting go of to make room for new energies and events if that makes sense.
