Inspired by the idea above, that each day you earn so many pence of your yearly allowance, I have today opened a new bank account! What im going to do is.. My yearly allowance for everything is £250, so ive figured that each day I earn £0.68p, so what im going to do is cheat and start a fresh as i havnt been keeping account for it properly, and manage it better this time. So ive put £12.92 in this bank account (19days at 0.68p) Then each day I am going to put this £0.68p into my clothes account. It wont be noticable, so when I do need something I automatically get it from this fund, but also it will feel much more "exciciting" every month to see it growLearning to be 'good with money'0

Hello All
Am back from my trip to nearby town I don't normally go to - and I have to admit I spent £9.99 on faux leather looking fleecy "flying"jacket - but it was in the sale reduced to half price.
Except it wasn't for me but my poodle cross dog ;)whom I had taken to the dog groomers but looked like shaun the sheep when he came out - but he needed clipping though-so at least he is warm again!
But I looked round a couple of boutique shops after and saw a fantastic turquoise and sea greeny top -it would have looked gorgeous with a pair of dark indigo jeans and heels.
I had to cross back over the street and look in a deli instead to stop me from going in the clothes shop - and promptly bought a cup of organic stilton & broccoli soup and a wholemeal bread bun for my lunch (£1.50)- a slightly better amount than £25 but am I going to put weight on with this challenge?? Hope not!
Dinah93Think waterproof trousers are essentials Debs, they're not exactly a fashion item!
Was thinking of having a clothes swapping party with friends and colleagues- anyone else ever had one? & how could I turn it into a money raiser for charity?

Hi
This is my debut to the Debt Free Wannabees! I'm such a luddite! Had my lightbulb moment last night - really frightening! My big issue is I don't know where the money goes and my statements don't help much. Starting a spending diary today and hope to make sense of my expenditure fast although I'm not in debt crisis (yet)
Anyway sign me up, I have enough but I never would have thought of ebaying 2nd hand clothes. Do they really sell?In the red at LBM £25,703 on 20/01/10Debt as at 20/07/10 £25012Target debt free date 05/01/14Crazy Clothes Challenger 139 = 8/100PROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBT0 -
Hi all
Still haven't spent anything but my Christmas presents should last me a while.
I did go shopping though in New Look yesterday for DD2's birthday and I really enjoyed picking out something for her (hope she likes it!) - shopping by proxy - I think my daughters are going to benefit from me not being able to buy clothes for myself - not very moneysaving!
I really like the flowery stuff they have in there - I always like flowery stuff when it comes around - but I think perhaps its a bit young for me.
As somebody who has no clue about what I should be wearing I'm looking up all the clothes people mention (purple tailcoat!) and trying to educate myself for the day when I do actually buy myself something! Seriously, any general guidance - good books etc about how a 12st 45 year old woman should put together a wardrobe would be really appreciated because I am hopeless!August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.0 -

Hi there - I've sold some second hand clothes on ebay, and yes, they do sell! They need to be in very good condition, or any flaws clearly stated. Known names or high street labels sell very well e.g. Monsoon, Boden, M&S, TopShop. My best sales so far of second hand clothes have been a Monsoon wool skirt £22, an All Saints Hitch skirt at £25 and a TopShop playsuit for £13.:j I've heard that Primarni can sell well too, but yet to put any of that on (I don't really shop there).
Some things have gone really badly, like a Coast beautiful green silk dress which needed two stitches to the straps... sold for £1.49!!! Cost over £149 new!!! I think the problem there was nobody wanted to fix it (which is a tip for us when we are looking for potential bargains). I would have kept it if I knew it would sell so badly!
I've read that black clothes do not photograph or sell well, better to have something patterned. Also larger clothes can do very well.
A good photograph and description with no mispellings always helps! You need good feedback, so if you don't already, buy some really cheap things and pay straight away. And be prepared for a load of questions from people overseas about how much to send it to them, mostly within the last hour of your sale (the royal mail site can answer this for you). The ebay and paypal fees can hurt a bit, but at least you've cleared space/debt/made money for the challenge!
Hope this info helps, and good luck!Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89
