  • its killing me not buying clothes! None to declare for about 6 weeks I think? Looking through Elle yesterday  its such a internal battle! :rotfl:

ok so after yesterday's post, I was the victim of marketin gtoday (will I ever be free?) so I had the afternoon off & decided to watch Gok's fashion fix (ok so red flashing warning light here, if it was happening in a panto I'd be shouting "look behind you"). So then "popped" onto ebay and bought a clutch £4.49 & a jacket £5.30 (will come back later with new total as am watching a couple of other bits...)

Still nothing more to declare but somehow seemed to have lost my little waterproof dog walking jacket and none of my other coats are really waterproof (hmmmm what happened to flaming June?)- will be really cross if I have to buy another - I know it won't count as it would be necessity but still its the principle!

Stay strong everyone -I can feel a tidal wave of Sales approaching us -keep your eyes shut and delete any emails/vouchers before you can use them!

Oh dear, I have blown the budget:(

I bought a John Rocha dress in the sale at debenhams last month, I didn't declare it and it was a guilty secret. It was reduced from £45 to £25.

At the wekend I was in debenhams again, I spied a fabulous STAR bag , dainty red number with baubles on , very tactile. Yhis was reduced as the strap was broken - however it mended in 10 seconds.
    That was £26

I got a code for my catalogue that I paid off a few months ago and decided to buy some walking boots that I will need in Norway next year, because they were reduced and i had a code I got a very expensive pair of boots for £20.

All money saving in their own ways.

Although I have blown my budget I would like to keep on with the challenge to at least keep my spending to a minimum if thats okay Lula.

    I had naughty thoughts today:eek::eek::eek:

was thinking about buying from Windsmoor and Planet through quidco then saw that i had to pay fro returns:eek: so didn't buy anything:A

they now have ebay site for clearance but you also have to pay for returns there so will stick to the shops unless sure something will fit.

    Hello girls,

apologies for yet another long absence. I've been reading & lurking & am very impressed with your joint restraint :A

I think you've been forgetting to send me abstinence vibes though as I've been going ebay mad :o. I've had bids stacked up for weeks now & if I had won every item I would be over my budget by about £200 .

Fortunately I lost most of them - including the mad one where I was increasing my bids down to the last 10 seconds & was only knocked out by my pc freezing at vital moment - thank goodness though as it would have cost me over £25.

I have however won some items since my last confession - lovely White Stuff top, FCUK jeans, Topshop trousers & a long floaty boho style skirt too which brings my total spends on home clothes to a very frightening £88.63.

My work clothes spending isnt much better at £86.00. I was expecting to spend a fair amount on work clothes this year as it's my first year working out of the home for a long time so I had very few suitable clothes.

Interestingly ( if you're really bored, anyway) all the items I have bought for work clothes were new, apart from one Topshop top from a charity shop. I have got 10 different items for my £86.00 so still very good value for money, although 6 of those items were from Primarni - cant beat those £8 linen trousers ;).

Of the 15 items I've bought with my £88.63p for home clothes, 5 of those were brand new & the rest have come either from charity shops or ebay. Most of these items are good quality labels although used which probably says something very odd about my preferences re work vs. home clothes:rotfl:

I'm no angel though as I have definitely been exercising my right to 'free' shoes & accessories, & yet this is the area where I think I've had the most value for money. Since the start of the challenge I have bought 1 pair of boots, 3 pairs of shoes & 4 pairs of sandals. All leather, 2 pairs worn once or twice & the rest brand new & unmarked ... total cost £101.66. I think is brilliant value for money, considering that I spent over £120 on just one pair of boots at christmas :o.

I have also bought 3 new leather handbags at a total cost of £59.90p. They're like buses ...

I fell in love with a gorgeous soft tan leather slouchy bag in topshop yesterday - trust me it is divine :heartpuls & then won a bid on a black leather bag for the frightening sum of £2.97 :rotfl:. I swear that I have been searching for a black bag that I really like for years now & then the same day as finding the delicious one I then go & win another one.

I am very very picky about bag & purses, they have to be completely perfect in size, shape, colour, pockets & material so I dont buy them often & to have found 2 in one day is just awesome. I wont need to even look at bags again. (until next year anyway ;))

I am very scared about the paltry scraps of my allowance but think I may have found a cunning way to boost my budget :D I have £11 in my Paypal account thanks to surveys :T & due to all this mad online shopping & ebaying, I have earned myself £12.20 in Quidco cashback so I'm wondering whether I could add that back into my budget too ??

Oh, it's very late so I'll just wish you HAPPY NEW CLOTHES & head to bed

    xx

£1 on a shirt from a bootsale this morning

(Number 133 on the list - new balance left £86-20)
  • I've been soooo busy recently that I haven't been updating. I know I bought a cardigan for £19.99 (I struggle with charity shops!) - but will double check bank statements to make sure that's it - then I'll update my totals. Sold around £30 worth of stuff on eBay last night, so I'm going to invest this into the pot. Want to get everything shipped and see how much I actually get after fees before I declaere my new total though!

I wasn't counting shoes, because I have stupidly wide feet and so rarely buy them...but I think I'm using aversion therapy as I've bought 5 pairs in 2 weeks! Have taken a pair back though, and will walk around the house for a few hours in the others to make sure they fit, then I might take those back too! Anyway, so I think I'm going to start a shoe fund as well - need to look back at bank statements to check how much I've spent so far...!

Happy new clothes people - and keep avoiding the shops!!!

Had a good jumble sale this Saturday, so some new clothes purchases to declare:

    * two topshop cotton jersey tops, one brown, one grey, with smocking at top. I need more basics, and these are really comfy and look smart enough for work.
    * one black warehouse a line skirt, with double breasted buttons on front. really comfy, and as I wear my black linen skirt all the time, I think this will be an office basic.
    * one oasis long chocolate brown boyfriend cardigan. not so sure about this, as it is a size or so too big. But as I have been looking for one for ages I'll give it a go.
    * one black oasis limited edition high waisted shiny black pencil skirt. so tight it is very raunchy, definitely one for a night out (and some magic knickers)!
    * edited to add: one topshop black wool sleeveless jumper/waistcoat - two large buttons at neck to fasten. My friend has same one in navy, cost £35. very cosy, and will be a staple in winter as our house is freezing!

    Total to add: £1.80 :D:D:D

I also bought a dress and jacket for a friend, a top I am turning into a dress for DD, a cardigan for my mum, glasses to use to make cakestands, a vintage Jaegar shirt which has a few holes, so may use for crafting, and some glass vintage dessert bowls I am going to give as a wedding present. Oh, and a wooden lamp stand (50p) and some homemade cake, with a cup of tea of course. Total cost of morning out, about £7. Love it!!

Wow, what a cool challenge! Is it too late to join in? I would like to sign up for £50 for the rest of the year please. :money:

I am trying to get into sewing (I am learning at the moment) so hopefully I can start to make some little bits and bobs for myself over the next 6 months. I also have TONS of clothes that I can wear or customise when my sewing skills get more advanced! :j

  • After having been quite good for a the past couple of months, I have had two shopping weekends in a row! But its a new season (supposedly) and so I guess a little bit of updating is OK :p

    So:
£22 on New Look maxi dress, bought on-line and wore it out on Saturday. Purple with a swirly psycadelic print. Sounds horrible but it isn't! So comfy, and no need to worry if your legs are hair free and tanned! :T
£8 on blue-green dip dye little bra type top that I found in a vintage shop - think it will be good under lightweight/sheer things

Also bought a new bracelet, which I really didn't need, but works really well with the whole multicolour thing I have going on at the moment. And accessories don't count so its all good :D

I also did the whole summer-winter wardrobe change over and found all those things I love to wear and haven't seen for 9 months. Hoping this will keep me from buying anymore, as I have plenty of "new" things to play with :T

Now all we need is some sunshine! Keep us in the park and away from the shops!

    Love,
    Karmachi
