    Hi All,

I know I'm a bit late in joining this challenge but I'm going to pledge to spend no more than £100 on clothes this year.

So far I have only bought 2 pairs of running shorts for £35 so I have £65 to last until next Jan. I'm also going to have a cull soon and sell things I haven't worn over the past year and try and knock more off my debts.

    LOL

Im back again , I only managed to get to one table top fair today , but still managed to get a few bargains some being for dd's birthday present toys that she wanted anyway , so im pleased with that .

So just £1.00 to add to dd's clothes list as I got her some matalan pjamas from there and they are lovely and also what she needed .

Hopefully I will get round some car boots tommorrow for some more bargains at low cost:)

I keep wondering just how much I will allow myself to spend on clothes when I am debt free ... does anyone have any figures milling around in their heads ? Although I could easily afford £100 a month, that now seems really extravagant :o & I do wonder just how much use or wear I would get out of each item if spending that much .

Blonde Ambition - I totally agree that £100 doesnt go far if buying decent stuff. I've got to be totally honest here & admit that while I'm happy to get a bargain, I really hate buying from cheap shop.

Apart from the knowledge that someone, somewhere is being exploited :( in order for us to have those clothes so cheaply I actually feel that *takes deep breath* at my age, I shouldnt be buying cheap tat; I should have enough dispsosable income not to have to :o.

I do wonder this myself! I reckon I'd need to let myself go crazy for a few months and then set a decent budget for well-made, decent staples that would be an investment.

Though I do so love my charity shops that I don't know if I could even do this! I'm so used to now scanning the charity shops and buying the "good" labels!

Currently waiting on the washing machine to finish dying some more off my off-whites to black. Forgot the stiching would stay white though so they look a bit odd. I'm sure I can work past that though :).

And I've just beeen invired to a wedding at the beginning of July. Despite having been to 3 weddings last year, I can't wear any of those dresses as it's the same bunch of people. Though I have the corset top of my bridesmad dress and I could shorten the skirt and perhaps wear that... but it still might look way too bridesmaidy... Hmmm, might have to see how my budget looks in June!

I haven't been out for a while so no new spends for me although i seem to be getting alot of emails about sales and discounts.
  • No spend so far. Following on the discussion about exploitation of people wearing cheap clothes, if no one bought "made in china" clothes, because of the human rights issues, we would hardly ever buy anything, because so much of clothing is made in china (and so much of everything else).

    Everyone is doing brilliantly :T:T:T:T:T:T

  • Very pleased with myself. Yesterday in Sainsbugs I had picked up a very nice half price top and half price bag and had them in the basket for a while but at the last minute I put them back, saving myself from shelling out £25. :j I did buy my DH some smart trousers (for job interviews) and DS2 two pairs of croc-style sandals for £8 (for both) as he lives in these come the warmer weather.

I am old enough(:() to remember the "good old days" when 98% of things from marks came from the UK,where did it all go wrong?whilst not pretending to understand all the ins and outs of trade I do think the governments of the time should have encouraged products to be made here and saved UK jobs and the planet(transport)

I like more expensive well made brands(only buy them in the sales tho!) and hope that workers get a good deal,I have never bought from primark as cannot believe that at the prices they charge that workers will get a far deal(have worked in nthe clothing industry so do know what the manufacturers get from the stores)

am having a day in town tomorrow so may well be tempted to use my vouchers:)I really need new shoes but getting them is a nightmare as I take 7.5 EE and hardly anyone sells them so may need to buy online(and they cost a bomb)the pair from marks wide range that fit ok on 1 foot are so big on the other that they flop when I walk:((not had this problem with other ranges)I also have lymphodemia and had an op on my big toe of the bigger foot so it is really hard to get a pair of winter shoes(sandals usually fine as they seem to be made wider or have straps to alter)

I feel for you Rosemary - I have a nightmare with shoes too (although I think it's largely due to instability and an intolerance of pain! I don't know how Lady GaGa does it!) Hope you manage to get some sorted.

I have to declare a spend this time - eek! Only £10 but I'm really annoyed with myself as it wasn't a necessary purchase, and is quite expensive compared to some of the bargais you lot have found! It's a stupid jumper with a huge picture of a panda on it. I'm a big kid and couldn't resist!

Oh well, I still have £90 to spend and will be getting some birthday money next month!

    Well done to everyone!!!
