  • Well, no mess. Everything is sparkly clean.

DD1 has been quite good about not being on phone to BF all day.

DD2 has been horrible, nothing has been good enough and the only thing that mattered was Daddy deigning to phone up just as the beer took effect.

Bloke can't cook sprouts to save anyone's life - grey sludge was his idea of cooked properly. And big crosses in them to make sure they were mushy because that's what his Nana told him 30 years ago.

But the roasties and parsnips were lovely.

The beef was left in the fridge as didn't want to waste it.

DD2 didn't eat anything other than 2 potatoes.

But everyone came in to watch the Gruffalo (so sweet!) and Doctor Who (that so could have been cut down to fit into one hour episode).

And my fancy new wireless photo printer (after a bit of faffing around) is great, my blue sparkly jewellery is lovely, my Chinese carp sculpture is interestingly different and I have the sales to look forward to for a stereo and camera!

So it will be off to bed soon for a cuddle - soggy sprouts allowing!
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

lol soggy sprouts!! reminds me of my ex MIL (sadly now passed away) she would put the veg on at about 10 for Sunday lunch at 2pm, grey sludge didn't describe it!! Sometimes it was hard to tell which veg was which, bless her she was so lovely in so many ways, unlike my ex-hubby

    Evening all

I haven't caught up but hope everyone has had a lovely day. We did! Some lovely presents from DH; the new handbag I'd asked for (it's from M&S and is aubergine leather), some white gold and diamond earrings (oops, I just thought they were silver and cubic zircona!!), wii fit plus game and one of those funky gravy separator jugs (I've wanted one for a while!). Some lovely bits from his family too, most of which were things I'd asked for.

The roast potatoes and parsnips I did were sublime, even if I do say so myself; everyone said so! I rescued the turkey carcass that the in laws would have binned so that'll be made into stock in the morning!

Tomorrow morning's plan is to chill chill chill, DH will be watching the boxing day test, weather permitting. Will need to wash up a couple of bits though DH did most of it this am, then in the afternoon it's over to DH's auntie's for Christmas part 2!

A very successful day had been had and I hope you all had one too.

Kids were overwhelmed with the gifts we had bought them, DS was stunned to get just about everything he had wanted (ok he did only have about 6 things on his list) and Dd loved her bracelet and her harrods bear the best. Dh managed to open pressies with us, have a few hours sleep then get up have Christmas Dinner about 430 before having to go back and get ready for work again.

Me and the kids then spend about 4 hours watching Outnumbered DVD's which make us seem like a completely normal family now in comparison :rotfl:.

I have just finished clearing away dinner and have S/S kitchen which is why I am up so late, I couldnt face it in the morning and didnt think it would be fair either for Dh to come in from work to find.

I am going to post my list - but only becuase its the only time I will have completed everyday so far (well apart from Fridays but that will be done tomorrow)

    5. [STRIKE]Before children go to bed they must stack their new things nicely! [/STRIKE]done

I AM SO PROUD OF MY DAD

My father usually spends quite a lot of money on our Christmas presents, he is over 80 and we are in our 50s, but when I opened my present this year, although it was a lovely present, it was clear he hadn't spent as much. He phoned at about 11 am to wish us a Happy Christmas and to tell me that he hadn't spent as much this year, instead he had donated a sum of money to Crisis, enough to give over 100 people a Christmas dinner. I was more thrilled over this "present" than any other I had received and like a slap across the face it brought home to me the meaning of Christmas. Money may be tight for us but compared to many we have so much and we are certainly in no danger of going hungry. What he did was far better than giving frivolous presents and I am going to follow his lead next year.
