I was wondering what any money savers thoughts were on Tesco Value Washing Powder. I've never tried it, always been a bit scared it might ruin my clothes for some weird reason
I normally use whatever is cheapest/on special offer and i've been slowly getting through a big bag of the Soapnuts, which have lasted about 2 months so far and i've probably got at least another 6 weeks worth left. Have to say, these have been worth the money, but I'm not sure why, my clothes have started to smell a bit 'musty' after they dry on the line unless I use conditioner as well as the soap nuts, don't know why really.
When they run out, and due to finances becoming even tighter, I'm looking to cutting the shopping bill further and I'm looking at the Value washing powder (as well as the Value Conditioner - any comments on this as well??)

ditto
i get contact dermatitis and find quite a few washing poders make it worse
have been using tesco value powder and soda crystals as above and am now also using white vinegar as conditioner and voila dermatitis has cleared up a lot recently. clothes look fine too though i do add napisan to my whites wash occasionally as my work shirts cant be done higher than 40degrees.0 -
I use Tesco Value powder when I make my HM washing powder and it's fine! Not to mention kind on the purse as you get so much for so little!! I don't use the fabric conditioner though so can't comment, I make my own.Official DFW Nerd no. 082! :cool:Debt @ 01/01/2014 £16,956 Debt now: £0.00 :j

i use tesco value powder or asdas smartprice and i have no complaints about either but you dont get the nice smell that you get with the dearer powders
i have a tabard for work with a black motif on it and its fine but a colleague, who uses dearer powder, was amazed to see her motif has turned brown even tho the powder is for coloureds0 -
I think I'll give the powder a whirl then when the soapnuts have run out.
The soda crystals - is it a tsp per wash? Is it to make the powder go further? I'm sure I've read about it on other threads but have never been quite sure how much to add and why."Stay Wonky":D

i use the value conditioner and find it fine.
Doesnt make towels or jeans quite as crispy as other thicker makes:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...

I used Netto's own brand and found it OK - as long as anything wasn't too dirty / stained. Now what I do is buy the tablets - not value but supermarkets own two in one, and only use one in the wash. (I live in a hard water area). I find this is absolutely fine and saves me loads of money.:D0

I use Sainsbury's economy powder on half dose, and it works fine. The only thing you don't get is the perfume, but I think we have been conditioned (no pun intended) into thinking clean clothes smell of perfume, instead of just smelling of, er, clean clothes...'Never keep up with Joneses. At the moment I've got co-op own brand which was on offer. I also use soapnuts and white vinegar.
Soapnuts and vinegar are fine for ordinary clothes washing. I havn't used fabric softener for years as I always did think it was a waste of time and money.
I still use washing powder at the moment as I have OH oily overalls to wash once every two weeks, but I might give soda crystals a go after the washing powder has all gone.
If I do buy washing powder again, I would certainly give the value one's a go, as they don't cost much, these not much to loose.0
