Morning all:j
Oops - was about to leave a jumpy smilie for the winners of SCD but suddenly realised that some of you might not have seen it yet and won't want to know the result:o
Couldn't open the car doors yesterday as they were frozen solid. After kettles of warm water finally managed to get into town, only to get stuck in the car park!! That'll teach me to pay to get into the Council car park (which had been well and truly gritted) rather than use the 'free-on-a-Saturday' high school car park. Sometimes OS doesn't pay:rotfl: A very kind man helped push the car out of its space, then went on to the hairdressers to get my hair cut :rotfl:- the first time I have spent money on my hair for two years:eek: (No, the hairdresser couldn't believe it either:o)
Not a very OS dinner last night - home-delivered chinese takeaway:o
Still very icy here today but am going to try to get into Chelmsford to get a few bits of shopping. I don't usually like shopping on a Sunday - doesn't seem right somehow, but needs must today.......
Dinner will be the roast pork loin that we should have had yesterday with some veg that need using up before the big Christmas shop goes in the fridge. I might manage a bit of ironing too. I don't have a tumble drier in the new cottage and am getting a bit fed up of draping washing over the radiators - how do you manage OS-wise without one?And how do I get all the bedspreads dry?
My two elderly springy-bobs don't care much for the snow but the new puppy (four months old now!) can't make it out at all:rotfl:. I have a dog-flap in the back door and she keeps running in and out like it's the grand national with her little puppy ears clumped with snow at the ends. Touch-wood, she has ignored the Christmas tree so far and the fairy lights are still intact:D
Hope you all have a good day......
Lilli

to all who need them today,or just want one.Its snowed again in the night ,just a bit,but the slush underneath has frozen,so its dodgy underfoot, and is crunchy when you walk. This meant the hound thought DS2 was a burglar when he returned in the early hours after his night out,and howled the place down until he got in.
My DB1,wife and niece called yesterday afternoon, our DSs were in too so that was nice-don't often see the cousins together anymore now they are all grown up.They had been shopping in Manchester and left the car at the train station up the road.
An un OS curry takeaway last night, didnt feel like cooking once the visitors had left.Bacon butties in a bit, then roast beef for tea.I might prepare the roasties for Xmas day and freeze them, veg too.Got a load from Lidl yesterday. Our local shops are having a Victorian market in the main street,so may take a look if Dh can be persuaded.
DH cut loads of logs up for the woodburner yesterday, his back was aching last night. There has been a chunk of sycamore trunk about 4' tall in the garden for about 2 years,so he decided to get his chainsaw out and cut it up.He's split some other wood into smaller pieces as they wouldnt fit in the fire, and may have to chop some into kindling as we seem to have run out of twigs. It feels really festive when the fire is lit and the tree lights are on,very cosy.
BB- men! I usually have aif DH returns home worse for wear, should know better at his age
NPM- Carols make me cry too !
Well,no one else has stirred yet,so I'm off for a shower. Then I'll wrap little nieces pressies as I have to hide all traces for when she visits on Tuesday, don't want anything about till Christmas day.DB2 is in charge as her mum is working,he often brings her round when that happens. He usually has a coffee and reads our paper in peace, while we glue and stick and glitter.I don't mind though,it was part of my job for years at school and is one of the things I miss most at Christmas (not the clearing up after though )
Hope everyone is well.x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Morning All
Bargainbird as my neighbour says to explain everything..'Men are stupid'who can argue?
My DH doesn't drink very often but when he does he gets greedy and forgets to stop which means he ends up ill for days and swearing never to do it again and usually doesnt for a good while lol but what do I expect..refer to first comment
I got a YS rolled turkey breast in Asda yesterday - we've had a couple of the smaller pieces and its lovely so hopefully this will be as good. I have a shoulder of pork in the freezer to which I'll do for christmas dinner too so just need a nice piece of gammon and veggies now and I've been squirrelling away little sausages and stuffing when its been YS'd.
We've had about 4 inches of snow overnight :j and its only so nice because I don't have to go anywhere today. Has a big fight with DS1 this morning as he was insisting that after having his licence a month he could drive in the snow - I told him he wasn't taking it and that I would give him £10 towards his taxi fare (total about £12) but he was still stropping and paddying like a two year old as he got in the taxi lol - I hid the keys just in case:D
I think we'll have chilli for tea - something to warm the bones as the kids will be out in it as some point i'm sure.
Hope everyine enjoys their day

Morning all....(((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))) if you need one. Blimey its a bit on the chiily side again this morning. We had a light fall of snow yesterday evening, just enough to make the pavements slippy now it has frozen. We are going out in a few minutes to de-ice the car. Need a trip to the lottie to fetch brussels for Friday.
I kept the heating on constant last night but turned the boiler down, the chill was off the rooms rather than it being freezing when I got out to turn the thermostat up. Have been looking on E Bay for a wireless room thermostst......we have not other heating controls on the system except the thermostat on the boiler. Its an old one way system so no TRV's either which is a pain. So until the boiler goes and we can get a new system we have to do the best we can.
My poor friend has a problem with her boiler, it is not working again, this is the second time in less than a month that it has failed.........the plumber cannot get to her until the morning. When I psoke to her last night she was in her lounge with the door shut and a fan heater on in the bedroom and the elcetric fire in the sitting room.
Its quite sunny here this morning, but the outside thermometer is registering -3 bbbbbbbbbrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrWas 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Good morning guys,
:rolleyes::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Cold, bright and more snow today :T:T:T DS1 is currently piling up snow for a planned snowball fight later (the postman got in the middle of one yesterday! :rotfl:) the other two are in front of the fire playing 'monkey ball'.
I was woken at 3.15am by LO screaming and managed to get a bin to him before he threw up. Took him to my bed to keep an eye on him and have only dozed on and off since as he threw up a couple more times. He seems OK this morning but has no appetite, on the other hand I am a little frazzled.
Last night I converted a curtain into a tablecloth for the xmas table and am dead chuffed with the result. :T:T Today - again just the usual pottering around and I want to move all of DS1's badges off his cubs jumper on to a bigger one. There are 18 of them to unpick  but I will be using wondaweb to stick them back on to the new one.
Lunch will be beans on toast and tea, pork chops with all the trimmings.
Hugs to all in need today and keep safe and warm guys. xxx

morning!:santa2:
a very cold frosty one here too but no snow! DH and DS1 having a lie in but I'm not one for lying in bed too long although did manage it till just after 8am.
Plans for today are to do a nice roast dinner tonight. This afternoon we're popping up the road to my aunties for our annual christmas family get-together. I've got a coupkle of cards left to deliver locally and a few to write out for tomorrow as I'm off out for a 3 course meal with my tap friends.
Diva - hope you're having a lie-in x
PP - how are you after your few days away? x
(((hugs))) to those in need.
Have a great day all and keep nice and warm xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Morning all,
Yesterday evening I had a disaster with my damson gin which has really peed me off:mad: and the day started so well:rolleyes: I feel like downing all the quince vodka now.
Anyway, I really enjoyed the Strictly final last night and voted for Chris and Ola who I thought danced so well. Ricky and Natalie were briliant too but their show dance didn't do it for me- too many showy lifts and not enough dancing.
Today we're having leftover soup for lunch. I have a chicken for supper but I haven't decided whether to roast it or joint and casserole it. I'm out of hm stock so I really need the bones to make stock which is a bit more difficult if it is casseroled.
Pudding will be leftover b&b pud or mince pies.
Have a good day everyone;)0 -
Morning all,
For those of you who are worried about Haribo, she's absolutely fine. She changed her internet provider a couple of weeks ago and something went wrong. It was supposed to be up and running last Tuesday, then Thursday, then Saturday and now it's Monday! We'll see. The upside is that without the distraction of MSE she is totally organised for Christmas....the downside is I'm not as organised as she is and I have this little voice on my phone at least four times a day saying 'I'm bored!' :wall: There have been the usual antics from the twins, Mr Haribo, the chickens, the cat, the dog and the local wildlife, but I'll let her fill you in with the details when she gets back online.
We woke up to snow this morning. :j Our weather tends to be milder than it is for most of you and we don't often get snow so it caused great excitement with ds2 wakening the whole family up very early to go out to play. _pale_ I hope for his sake that it lasts as he's loving it.
Today I want to write food shopping lists, give the house a thorough clean and make a slow roasted shoulder of lamb in my new oven. Ds1 needs to go into the city this afternoon but if it's still snowing I might just shove him on a bus rather than get the car out. Lots of pressie wrapping to do too. I miss dd who normally helps out with wrapping but she won't be home until Christmas eve, and even I won't leave it that late!
Anniestar, it was lovely to talk to you last week, I hope you are up and running tomorrow.
Redruby, sorry to read your news about your Dad. I hope the medication will help him.
Cranky :hello: Hope you're ok.
Smoky, I'm glad lo is ok and hope you manage to get some rest later.
thriftlady, you must be so disappointed! I have a vision in my head of you licking damson gin off the walls.
Have a good day everyone!
