If the OP's GP gave him Viagra to restore his desire for sex then the GP is an ignoramus who needs re-training
    are you suprised i'm confused.

i did some research and came across andropause some of the symptons are similiar to what i have so i explained to my gp the symptons i have and asked was i suffering from andropause i was informed no and prescribed viagra it didn't work in that when i tried sex i was unable to maintain an erection so went back gp and explained who gave me a different kind of viagra (the 1st type was supposed to work work within a couple of hours but it never did) (the 2nd type was supposed to work over a longer period again it never did)

now i'm referred to a urology clinic (i get the impression my gp thinks i'm 50 and it's something we all go through well i don't feel right within myself and all i want to know is what's wrong.

anyway sorry to have rambled on and thanks for your help.

A few suggestions, firstly - Ginseng and Ginko biloba + multivits, morrisons do a good all in one supplement. Fish oils/other efa's.
Horny goat weed or any other libido enhancers such as vigr-x.
Male max is a good, if expensive H + B supplement.
Zinc and magnesium are essential for male prostate health and female sexual function. Brazil nuts and pistachios are brilliant sources.
There are plenty of natural ways to boost your sexual health before resorting to medicine and as has been said before, the doctor offering Viagra is having a laugh.
    I can personally recommend Ginseng - I'm 44 and peri-menopausal.
CATKINS - try some ginseng and ginko and also some really good lube, have you thought about getting a vibrator if orgasms are elusive? Good lube ( silicone is the longest lasting but tastes vile) makes sex far more enjoyable and comfortable, there is also vielle, which is a stimulant too and the durex range are good, especially the aloe vera one , my own favourite is the Tracey Cox super slippy love lube.

I missed the bit where you said Viagra didn't work - you need your prostate checking asap imho. Do you have any prostate related symptoms?
Underlying illness can be like a sledgehammer to libido.

I was just about to post about natural remedies.

I found these online. I have no idea if they are any good but I have bought supplements from this company before so can testify that they are genuine and reliable. Might be worth risking a tenner?

I love the "Horny Goat Weed" :rotfl:.

Other posters please be aware of the "no medical advice" rule, otherwise the thread may be removed.

These days we think of 50 as still "young" whereas back in my grandfather's day if not exactly "old" then it was certainly "getting on a bit". Fact is that it is exactly the same age and bits do start wearing out. 10 years back I used to run 10 miles 3 nights of the week, gym on another 3 and party all night on Saturdays. Fat chance of that now

    Best of luck, anyway.

Does anyone have any suggestions for upping the labido in a female?

Im a 22 year old female and have been with my partner for 4 years. We're planning on getting married next year. My labido has been drying up for the last 2 years and has now hit a point where its non existant. Its now causing other problems like arguments, feeling bad for myself which in itself is causing other problems.

I have a doctors appointment on monday as I believe this could be physcologically linked, but wondered if anyone had any other suggestions?

I watched a medical programme the other night on tv but I cant remember which one:confused:.

It showed a man , i think in his 50's with lethargy , low self esteem and low libido and he was prescribed the male form of HRT in a gel (as stated on an earlier post)

Maybe this is your problem?? Worth asking the doc?
Life is a rollercoaster.....ya just gotta ride it:whistle:

Hun, if you have no desire for sex, you should not be engaging in sexual activity, or trying to force yourself to do so. Sex is not something women "have to do" whether they want to or not. Those (Victorian) days are well and truly over.

Only have the type and amount of sex that your body desires. This should not be causing any arguments, because nobody, nobody has any right of access to your body. If you do not want sex, there is nothing to argue about.

If a man is starting arguments with you because he wants to use your body for his sexual relief regardless of the fact that you don't feel like sex, the answer is to sort out or get rid of the man, not to seek artifical means to try to force yourself to want sex when you don't.

I saw it on More 4 the other evening. It is part of the 'embarassing bodies' series, 'embarassing old bodies'. The guy on the programme was very troubled by his lack of libido and was improved by HRT.

I have found the programme on 4OD so you can watch it online but is only available for the next 2 days. The guy I am referring to comes in to see the doctor 4 minutes in and is wearing a blue shirt:

If I was you OP I would try a different GP at your surgery for a second opinion? If you do have the male menopause then the hormone gel should be a good option for you, if not then you have lost nothing!

i've mentioned this to my gp and she is adamant i'm not suffering with the male menopause i'm not medically trained but from the reaserch i've done the symptons i have are very very similiar to the male menopause.
