Its making a hum too & feels warm to the touch (I wanted to get in the airing cupboard I'm so cold).0

Ok, that is telling you that there is a call for heat and the boiler should be running, so any problem with external controls has now been illiminated.
I am very surprised that you have not had any problems with your hot water.
I'll just see if I can download the installation docs for this boiler .....0 -

It won't come on for heat or water.
The water I have is from when it was running, the tank is well insulated so it stays warm a long time.
Don't worry about downloading any docs, thank you for your help, but any further checks are beyond me:o:o:o0 -
Well it wasn't all day & their still seems to be a faint hum from it.
The hum is still faint.
I'm pretty sure its gone off again (some front lights stayed on all day even though it was off all afternoon), the hum is very faint. It has a proper hum when its running.
You also said it came on briefly.
I wonder if your header tank ball valve is stuck and the system is partially empty. that would explain the pump still humming faintly. As the pump raised in the vent pipe it could have evaporated just enough pumping up into the vent pipe in this cold weather and evaporating at the header with no refill.
just a guess, maybe
what do you think?

OK.
You need to place a call with a competent heating engineer.
This boiler is extremely robust and not known for any particular problems. The likely fault, ranging from the cheapest to most expensive are air pressure switch, boiler thermostat or high limit stat, fan, PCB, gas valve.
Oddly enough I took out one of these in perfect working order last week to replace it with a more powerful Worcester. It's a real shame to throw these things away.0 -

Circulation problems are normally accompanied by severe banging and crashing noises, followed by the pump screeching just before it seizes0 -

It def did come on briefly for about 5 mins, enough to start to heat the pipes, but def off again.
The bit in red, wosh over my head0 -
There are two copper pipes coming out of the top of the boiler. It might be worth checking these to see if one is red hot and the other one is cold.0

Tiny gap can't get hand right in, only had set of steps, would need ladder to get up higher & its in the shed.
But it was warm up there.0
