If the rads go cold again, check that the circulator pump is running. This is usually in the airing cupboard and it will be obvious if it is running or not. This status of the pump will immediately eliminate a whole load of possible causes, making it much easier to identify the problem.

Natural Gas will not freeze, but liquid gas as in calor bottled gas can find it difficult to create a pressure differential if the container(bottle) is too cold. Not really freezing but it happens in very cold weather.

you are on Natural gas are you not?

    ..

    Yes, just piped gas.

I think its stopped again, it is making a noise, but a hum rather than the more powerful noise it makes when running.

The pipes near it warmed a little.
  • Wow I just read it has come back on. Brilliant:j

We can all go to bed now then.

oh Just seen EliteHeat, wasn't sure if the pump which I mentioned earlier was contained in baxi unit. But as you say could be in the airing cupboard along with the 3 port.

    Time for bed.................................

A hum is normal, can you confirm that the boiler is definitely not running?

Well it wasn't all day & their still seems to be a faint hum from it.

    The hum is still faint.

I'm pretty sure its gone off again (some front lights stayed on all day even though it was off all afternoon), the hum is very faint. It has a proper hum when its running.

It is important that you determine if the pump is running or not. If you are not sure, turn the system off at the programmer, check it, turn it back on again and then check it again after a few seconds.

The pump is the thing in the airing cupboard?

How do I know if its on or not?

    Its sealed.

It will make a whirring sound and if you put your hand on its casing, you will feel the vibrations.
  • Back with my cocoa:D
