advice on injury in a store

Options
Hi,

My mother was injured in a well known departmental store last month in the north of the UK. She has finally received letter from the store.

This has the following errors (at least)....

surname wrong
initial wrong
not on headed paper
patronising
address wrong

I am very dissapointed that the store has sent such a letter, when my mother was hurt by the actions of a member of staff.

What can she do now? What are her options?

I do not beleive it was sent my the store manager - rather a lower ranked person. Do we take it back to the store and complain? Do we phone head office?

Any advice please?

without any more details other than the very, very vague ones you've provided, there's not much she can do at this stage other than try her hand at origami

    it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
    their - 'owned by them'
    they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)

she was pushed by a girl moving items around the store via a tall trolly - the female member of staff did not ensure the area was clear and my wife and her back to her and the trolly at the time - so the first thing that she knew was when she was being shoved into shop unit hurting her lower back and legs.

She returned home and wa very upset and her neighbour had to calm her down as she was still in a state of shock.

The member of staff had been previously laughing with a colleague, so clearly her mind was on something else.

My mother was not offered assistance at the time, I think she wandered off still in pain - but also rather dazed by the who affair.

My dissapointment comes in the rather poor letter sent as much as anything - which smacks of 'we do not really care'.

i'd threaten to take it to the european court of human rights.

perhaps if your mother hadn't wandered off afterwards, she may have been offered assistance, filled in an accident form and had her contact details taken there and then for some kind of recompense to be sorted in the aftermath.

as it happens, she walked off and nothing was done. you can only blame the store so far here for not offering her assistance afterwards

    I'm noticing a pattern!
People receive a letter of apology, but they nit-pick and dream up reasons why the apology isn't adequate - because what they really want is money instead! COMPENSAYSHUN!

I would not be talking to the store, I would be looking for an injury claims specialist. You may be entitled to compensation, I suggest you stop the letters and look for a lawyer, many will operate on a no-win no fee basis.
