Where did the store get the name and address from? From your mother at the time probably just taken down incorrectly.

It is a very common surname and the address is a main road close to the store LOL Bit like getting Mrs Smith, 13 Oxford Street spelt wrong LOL

I can't understand how the letter was received if it was incorrectly addressed or how you knew where it had come from if it wasn't on headed paper.

I meant printed headed paper - the letter could have been typed on home computer for alll I know.

I could have typed it and then complained to HO about an insulting letter - hence the reason why companies should send on printed heade paper.

Sorry if you did not understand my post.

i sued the child and he had to file for bankruptcy.

he was reported to be 'furious' at this as he was a few months away from setting up his own business selling computers & mobile phones and had plans on advertising at his local football ground but the bankruptcy put paid to those plans for a few years at least.

    it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y

Am i in the minority here? turn your back to a big tall trolley with supermarket monkeys on the loose, thats a recipe for disaster and the mothers fault equally, tho there isnt actually 'fault' to be apportioned here, without being witness.

Er, I'd say you were in a minority. Those trolleys are supposed to go round people, not through them.

Does that mean when shopping I have to constantly look over my shoulder in case someone with a trolley happens to barge into me? The person pushing the thing should be looking where they are going.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

pullip, I suspect the OP thinks there's little point in coming back to the thread since the majority of the replies are less than helpful. I dont think I would either tbh. Shame really because I think your query about the cage is pertinent.

  • yes it was a cage - tried to ignore the posts in between.

My mother (who is not an idiot and I object to any such suggestions) was merely trying to take an item from the display - having gone into the store to do this, why is this do wrong?

Thank you. That puts everything into a different light. As I said earlier most stores policy is that these cages are pulled NOT pushed for health and safety reasons. Its usually one of the first points mentioned in training videos and I would have hoped a store would take it very seriously indeed.
(as an aside I once saw a colleague knock an old lady off her feet by pushing rather than pulling the cage)

I dont believe you are in the wrong here and I hope you do get some joy out of the store.

There is an interesting report from the HSE here regarding roll cage accidents:
    http://209.85.229.132/search?q=cache:OEcmSWUm97oJ:www.hse.gov.uk/research/rrpdf/rr009.pdf+supermarket+roll+cages+safety&cd=5&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk

My time in retail was served a decade ago, but I can tell you the training videos for both Iceland and Tesco insisted Cages were pulled on the shop floor to enable us to see if we were likely to cause an injury to a customer.

Reading briefly the HSE report above it appears as though they have decided that either pulling or pushing on a shop floor is equally dangerous. That said,Ive only scanned the document and I am very tired.
