XBOX 360 and PS3 breakdown poll

I've never played the Gears of War games, though I've been meaning to check them out. The first one is available new here for $20, which is pretty good.
My favourite game is probably the Half Life 2 series. The Orange Box at £13 has to be the best value package there is at the minute.
Though, I hear the PS 3 version isn't so hot performance-wise.
i havent played any of the half life games. gears of war is good fun if you like that sort of theme. the gun with the chainsaw attached is awesome. a good thing about it is if you play on the easy setting you have a great chance of finishing it. so its great for rubbish gamers. they are very popular so it is fair to assume the harder settings satisfy the hardcore. i'm rubbish and only ever play on the easy setting. they both have co op modes which is a good thing but i havent used that as i only have 1 controller. the first game is a little harder than the second game.0 -

It's definitely on my list of games to get, which seems to get longer every week!
You should really get yourself Half Life 2 though. According to Wikipedia:The game became one of the most critically acclaimed video games in history. It received an aggregated score of 96% on both GameRankings and Metacritic. Sources such as GameSpy, The Cincinnati Enquirer, and The New York Times have given perfect reviewing scores, and others such as PC Gamer and IGN gave near-perfect scores, while the game became the fifth title to receive Edge magazine’s ten-out-of-ten score. Critics who applauded the game cited the advanced graphics and physics along with the relatively low system requirements. Maximum PC awarded Half-Life 2 an unprecedented 11 on their rating scale which normally peaks at 10, and named it the "best game ever made".
It won over 40 game of the year awards, and it was in the Guinness World Records: Gamer's Edition for the "Highest Rated Shooter by PC Gamer Magazine".
It has a fantastic storyline, great characters, and a very immersive world. I was actually a little sad when I finished it, as I just wanted it to go on forever. Though I'm planning on playing through it again on the hardest difficulty level, so that should keep m busy for awhile. :cool:0 -
2 votes from me, have both consoles and both have been fine. The 360 gets used a hell of a lot more than the PS3 though.0

I went through 2 360's in 9 months, took both back to the shop for a refund and have been on a PS3 (60GB) for 2+ years. I can even back up my gamesaves onto a normal USB hard disk and have recently upgraded to 320GB.Space for rent, apply within - Free trial on Thanks button though0

Half Life 2 does rock. But your right Marty, the PS3 version was a bit of a mess (Still awesome to play, but 'should' have run so much better)
I actually got addicted to the PC version of its deathmatch

My 360 was 2.5 years old when I got the rings of death.
I thought I'd escaped the dreaded fault, but it wasn't to be.
It was repaired free and relatively quickly, but I'm still not 100% happy.
My console is slightly noiser than it was to start with. The eject button is a little tempramental. And for some reason I now can't connect to live on first attempt.
It says I have no Live connection and takes me to the test process. The test passes. Then I can log in.
The thing is, it's been several weeks now and I've probably left it too late to complain about it. :wall:0 -
We have both, 360 needed to be sent off about 8 months in but partner is a heavy gamer of several hours a day. Replaced/repaired no problems.
PS3 is barely used to be honestly but never needed fixing.

Well, my kids have had two XBox 360s each - both of their first ones broke down with E74 rather than RROD. One after 15 months and the other after 18 months. Both got replacements from M$ and they are still working 12 and 10 months after respectively. Fingers crossed!
It's only a game
