SYH4free (sell your house for free) scam or real?

I am currently being strung along by syh4free. They tell me someone has made an offer on my flat without even seeing it.
The valuer rang to arrange an appointment. At the time, I saw no harm and let him in. He told me that he would not carry out a valuation unless the offer was very serious. He didn't take any measurements but left saying that his report will be favourable (I have his mobile number).
Then, syh4free sent me the paperwork insisting that I pay 1% now before any exchange has taken place. They are ringing me constantly but I refuse to answer their withheld number.
When I read the literature (contract and term of business etc), I couldn't help think that I'm reading what I want to hear. Isnt' that what con artists do best?
I cannot stress enough that you must stay away from this company whom I believe to be scamming.0 -
hi there (oneborneveryminute) - you are in the same postion as alot of us in this forum, but its great that you haven't parted with your money - keep it safe in your own pocket. We so nearly parted with our money (the cheque was even wrote out). I thought i had got rid of them after phone call last week but bang on que, phone call before. (Hello is your house still for sale - Yes who's calling - My name is !!!! and i'm calling from syh4free - Sorry but i have already dealt with 3 of your colleagues and there will be no sale going through with you). For some strange reason this guy seemed quite embarressed and even apologised for ringing. Fingers crossed that will be the last one?0

I have joined the chat forum to add ANOTHER WARNING. Currnetly being harrassed by private calls.
Have got up to the survey stage and was about to send off further details and perhaps a cheque.
I usually get a call at work and would just agree to most things. So calls were short and to the point. The estimated value of our property was "too good to be true". We were kind of taken in at this stage as we had a valuation off another cash buying company that was very low. I have to say that rather than get greedy alarm bells were not quite set off but got louder.
Dont even approach out of curiosity its just not worth the hassle.
Worried that I will get chased for the services of the surveyor who looked at the house but took no measurements but asked for our estate agents measurements.
I think this is a fraud set out to prey on peoples fears of the property market.
Hope we can manage to save everyone a lot of money and hassle.Be careful whatever you do...0 -
Hi Guys
I have been approached by this company and I objected strongly to the 1% which I was told exactly the same as everyone else on here, I was sent the pack to sign and return, which I didn't and was subsequetly called by their sales team, after much discussion it was suggested that I go ahead with the valuation which I agreed to but made no commitment on signing any forms. They told me they would send their Northern Area Rep to carry this out and his name is, ............. yes, you've guessed it...... Peter Stevens and he was coming all the way from Birmingham, apparently, to my house near Penrith for 10am, next week
After carrying out many searches on the company I came up with this forum, which confirmed my very thoughts and feelings and I cancelled the visit immediately via email as It was well into the evening, no doubt get a call tomorrow but I am well armed.............. many thanks to the forum:T0 -
:rotfl:
Have to laugh - Peter Stevens is widely travelled! They tried to make an appointment for him to visit me following day but managed to avoid it - and then next morning I had a phone call from to say he was on his way! Like everyone else we decided there was nothing to lose - especially as we had not made any appointment with him. He went round our place quite efficiently and told us what a nice property it is...didn't want to bother looking at the garden - not necessary and he would only bring dirty shoes in (I quote!). He said he had to dash off to Derby then up to Manchester from here - he had travelled to us from Kent that morning...
Have no qualms about giving them the elbow! If they want to waste their money ringing you so be it - just don't ring them back!0 -

Almost paid the 1%.
Guess that is the number that Simon Lewis gave me when he left a message and asked me to ring him back! It was an 0845 number.
No doubt about it - leave them well alone!0 -

I am currently being strung along by SYH4FREE.COM. But they don't realise that I know that I'm being strung along. They genuinely believe that I'm going to pay them the 2% fee for a a buyer which doesn't exist.
I suggest all of you steer clear of them, but if you want to take the matter further, why not turn the tables and string them along. Get out of them as much information as possible but be taken in. They are not an estate agency. They are a con outfit.
Don't bother reporting them to Companies House (where they are registered) and who won't get involved. Forget the police who don't seem to take fraud seriously and there is absolutely no point contacting SYH4FREE.COM's bank whoare Lloyds TSB. Report them to Trading Standards (ring your local council for telephone number).
Also, it's best not to disclose names openly on this site otherwise the monitors may delete the thread preventing other potential victims from being alerted.0 -
Office of Fair Trading tel no (Trading Standards) is at top of this page - they will direct you according to your post code to local office - and welcome your call and information on this company. They thanked me for letting them know.0
