How can I find out more about this company I have sent them money today and just found all this on the forum. I am now worried about my funds??

It would help a LOT of us if you could let us know what has happened so far - now you have sent them the money. Please!

Have you phoned Office of Fair Trading if you are worried: 0845 722 4499 - they may be able to help urgently if necessary ;)!

The chances of there being two people called Deryck Hillier living in Tadworth are extremely remote.

    But still possible. And:
    • Mr Hillier could be running a perfectly legitimate business.
    • The whois record for the site could have been fraudulently altered to create the impression given by this thread (and posters in this thread could potentially be behind this)
    • The whole thing could be a scam set up entirely to defame Mr Hillier.

Somebody could register the site in his name, set up a flashy site and post some messages here from multiple accounts claiming to be worried about losing money. They could then make a few phone calls from withheld numbers (possibly from hard-to-trace PAYG or stolen phones) to complete the scheme in an effort to attack Mr. Hillier's character. We have no real way to know what is going on.

I also have no way to confirm the contents of the article I referenced and it could be entirely fiction.

Nobody should jump to assumptions. Simply act sensibly when dealing with this company and (as always) get legal advice before entering into any agreement to sell a property.

TBH, this sounds like a slightly more sophisticated version of the car selling scam - you advertise your car for sale in Autotrader, and you are called by companies claiming to have people in your area interested in your car, a sale is guaranteed, and if you pay them £100 they'll pass on your details to these buyers. Of course, if you do so, no potential buyers ever contact you (because they never existed in the first place).
The bottom line here is that any buyer interested in anything you are selling (whether that be a car or house), will make contact with either you directly, or your agent if you are selling a house, not some third party you have never heard of before - especially when the buyer has to pay this third party for the privilege of using them to buy something.
"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"
  • OFT recommend caution is taken even if leaving your 1% deposit in the "care" of your Solicitor. There will be so many Terms and Conditions set by the company it may not mean your money is safe.

Understand what you are saying Redwood! Hope all goes well for you and to hear more in the future.

The more people who query this company to OFT etc the better now - need to raise the profile and let people know! Times are hard enough without losing money to scams.;)

hi everyone. had call from simon lewis about the sale. told him again that our solicitor had given us advice to withhold 1% until things were finalised but this was a no no. we therefore said there would be no sale as we pay our solicitor for his advice. his final words were if we change our minds we no where to find him. be wary everyone as they do not give in unless you are quite blunt with them, i no it's hard but it's something you have to do. i would just like to know how redwood66 got on with them after they had sent them money (early on in the forum)

Hi - just had a call from a guy asking if house was still for sale. Said it was. He then proceeded to tell me his name was michael calling from (guess where) you got it - syh4free. Before he could go any further i told him we had already dealt with one of his colleagues called simon lewis and that there would be no deal going through. He then asked for my name (so he could take it off their list) which i refused to give, but he did not give up - so i just said goodbye and hung up. Maybe i might get somebody else ringing next week unless i have really p!!!!!!!!! them off this time, hope so eh.:j

Having put the phone down on Michael R fortunately I've managed a few days without his persistent calls - even being blunt with him didn't seem to work. He just keeps on going

Hope Redwood got money back or problem sorted - this seems to be yet another scam designed to get hard earned money out of people
  • Hi there.

No return of money yet but still working on it. Will keep you posted! Says it all really.

I read your post with interest as I also have been made an offer by this company & I'm doing what research I can. I wouldn't mind talking about this. Send me a message on my ebay ID rabb5it & I'll reply with my email address.

New user of this site. I would like to talk to you about your research. I am unable to contact you on ebay, please reply and I will give you my email address. Thank You
  • Of course - this company only started up in September last year. They give their "purchasers" 120 days to complete the sale....therefore by the end of January all these happy Vendors should be coming forward to confirm all has proceeded well....we wait with baited breath!!!
