Hi Cath p,
I hope you don't mind me contacting you, but have read your comments on this thread of messages, and I am delighted to hear that you received a full refund from SYH4F.
My husband and I paid the 1% a week ago, and since then have contacted them on several occassions, each time, either receiving no answer, or when we do, being told they will get back to us later that day, or the following day, this they never do!
My husband and I have both recently been made unemployed, and need to sell our home to be able to move to a cheaper location. SYH4F seemed to provide us with the perfect solution. We now feel used, and gutted that this has happened.
Would you be able to give us any pointers or direct us on how we can try and claim back the money which is rightfully ours?
Many thanks, and again congratulations. I'm sure it wasn't easy to get your money back, but I am not going to lay down and let them get away with taking our hard earned money away from us!

Hi everyone,
Following on from my previous messages on this site, I again rang SYH4F this morning, and as usual the person I wanted to speak to (Simon Lewis) was not available! My husband and I have been phoning them at least 3-4 times a week since sending them our 1% deposit, and each time we are told no-one is available, and that they would contact us back, which of course they never do!
I explained this to the person on the other end of the phone and was informed he was a manager (ha ha!) and would definately get someone to get back to me. I will ring again later as I know no-one will!
I explained that my husband and I were moving 150 miles away, were nearing the time when we would have to hand in our notices at our current jobs, and needed to know what was happening as were told our buyers wanted to move in at the beginning of May, and we needed to go to the area we intend to move to, and put an offer on a place there, otherwise we would be homeless! I assume the person on the other end of the phone couldn't have cared less, but I wanted him to know the situation they had put us in.
I see that some of you have got your 1% back, but only because you paid by credit card. we were informed by SYH4F to pay by bank transfer (they probably had realised people could get their money back if paid by credit card), so can I ask if anyone has any ideas how we get our money back if we paid by bank transfer????
I am not going to let these B***ards get away with it without a bloody good fight!0 -
Well as I suspected, waited all day for a phone call back from SYH4F and ended up phoning them again a few mins ago. After stating my name I was forwarded on to two different people, and told the person I wanted was unavailable AGAIN! When I started having a go, and stating that I was never able to get hold of the person I wanted etc etc, I was told that the phone would be put down on me if I carried on in this manner! I explained I was frustrated with how my sale had been handled.
After a further 5 minutes of me and him having a go at one another, he then suddenly asked if I wanted my 1% back! I immediately said of course I did, and he said that was possible if I paid by credit card! I informed him that we had paid as directed by bank transfer, and he then said he didn't know if we could then get our money back! He said he would get the Accounts dept to ring me, When I asked 'when'? , he said definately today..... guess what... still waiting for the phone call! I should have asked why couldn't he transfer me to the accounts dept on the phone!!!! I'll keep you posted!0 -
Hi. Has anyone on this forum been told suddenly that their credit card payment of 1% + VAT has been refunded and only a bank transfer can now be accepted? I was due to exchange contracts in less than 2 weeks and now all of a sudden my Visa payment cannot be released to them, therefore, they require direct payment.0

As SYH4FREE are merely acting as agents, they can't stop any sale going through if both the vendor and buyer wish to proceed. But then any 'buyer' is probably a figment of their imgination, and unlikely to exist."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

i had a letter yesterday too, saying that the merchant bank were not able to release the funds - so why has it taken them 3 months to let me know? i have contacted my credit card company and they are hoping the refund will be in my account today - i will ring them later to check and let you know. Trading Standards have been involved - but the problem is that they are working very close to the border lines and they are having trouble actually pinning these crooks down though they are looking into it and im due questionairres and witness statements etc to try and help catch these people. will let you know more later.0

i have just spoken to my credit card company who are saying that there is no money pending to go back onto my account - it looks as if this is even a bogus transaction!0

Sounds to me from recent posts that the credit card companies are on to them and making life difficult, maybe withdrawn their merchant status?
Do not send them a bank transfer you'll never see your money again just remember that they have been going since September and we havent heard of one single house sale being completed yet.0
