SAAS Travel Expenses 09/10 APPLY NOW

I don't think asking for £300-£400 a year in travel expenses is being 'handheld'. Also, what do you mean by 'doing anything by themselves'? I think we are getting slightly off topic.
I personally know many individuals who would love to go into HE and would doubtlessly flourish there, but simply cannot as the funding is so poor.
I am glad that you feel grateful for the paltry amount the government provide you with in order that you can educate yourself, but the general concensus of the student population in this country does not concurr.Come ride with me, through the veins of history...

Many students now feel that university is a consumer product that they have bought and so are entitled to be handheld throughout their degree. They want to be taught rather than learn. En suite bathrooms seem to be the norm, even though they are more expensive. There is nothing wrong with a shared bathroom. They want everything put up online so they can access it when they want to, etc, etc, etc.
Funding isn't that bad. There are always part-time jobs, studying part-time, saving up until you can afford it. Saying you can't afford a higher education doesn't wash with me, I'm afraid. I would love SAAS to go back to the thrice-yearly loan installments, it made things better and cheaper for me, but some people couldn't control their spending and now we're all stuck with monthly.0 -
just called and although my claim was processed on the 24th they said it will be released on the 7th and can take 10 more days, its a bit ridiculous to be honest since i applied 14th December.0

We will agree to disagree, but I still think in this day of modern banking and instant payments the funding bodies have let people down, people who are already struggling financially. This isn't even considering the fiasco some people are still experiencing with their actual loans.Come ride with me, through the veins of history...

Think we must have spoken to the same guy! I phoned up the other day and that was their response. Keep checking the progress each day, I was told I could get a payment on Monday earliest but if its still not been processed then I'm not holding my breath.
What is the hold up? Are they gonna ask for proof/receipts at this stage? Who gets priority? I'm an independant, self supporting mature student so doubt I'm at the top of their list.£2 Savers Club 2014 #74 - £4840 -
I've never been asked for receipts but I was meticulous, a friend got asked for proof and then got nothing cos she'd claimed for things she didn't really use (i.e. she claimed she got 2 buses from 2 different companies like I did but she'd actually been driving in).0

yeah they say that if you drive then they can only give you how much it would cost for using public transport so she should have got something :S0 -
