  • i got my travel expenses through at the end of december after applying on the 15th (got locked out of it) where my oh hasnt got them yet.

My assessed income is 2400 a year (his wage)
his is 1200 (my wage) so im not sure why. I can only think that maybe theres some kinda delay for people who applyed on the first day?

i hope the argument over whether we should get expenses could stop please. Its not very productive and as you can see some people need the money. Its not right to judge all students as being the immature drunks who waste their money. Many have paid taxes, have bills to pay and families to support. Even if they dont they willl then go on and pay taxes with the money they earn and im sure theyl pay more than £300 taxes in their life. Even if you dont agree with me its not fair to judge people on here - who would prob be the ones using their money sensibly

On the SAAS website, it still says my claim as not been processed but I got a payment of £276 into my bank today.

I can't remember the original amount I applied for, but £276 seems a lot less.

I know they take off around £160 of your total claim but theres no way of knowing what I applied for now! Oh well lol

    Just glad its finally sorted.

  • i think if you can work out how many weeks are in a term then you could work out how much you should have got. i alro realised this after i sent mine away and didnt get a letter saying it or anything. I just cant work out how i have mine but my OH doesnt. i got mine on the 22nd that seems really early and its not like hes got a high assessed income...

My friend told them she'd been getting the bus when she hadn't, she should have said she was driving but claiming x amount because it would have cost her that as it was the cheapest way to get to uni. When they asked for reciepts for the travel cards and she couldn't produce them she got knocked back for a fraudulent claim, not because you're not entitled when you use a car.

I applied on 15th and heard nothing yet, not even been processed. If you go to site and look up what happens if you drive it says we will restrict expenses to public transport costs. It doesn't say we won't pay you.

I also don't see where the opportunity on the travel expenses form is given to allow people to mention that they are in fact claiming for bus/train etc but they have been driving. I suspect there is no opportunity. And I also reckon if people were gracious enough to mail them and say I have been driving what will I do? - they would
    a) fail to link the e mail to the application - from what I gather they ain't that organised
    b) Probably tell the people to claim for the cheapest available public transport

So I don't understand why people are being told they are being "fraudulent" really, as they themselves state - if you drive we'll pay you public transport costs but don't give you the opportunity on the form to be honest???? Oh dear.

I wish SAAS did more checks, just so they would be more likely to catch those lying on their claims.
