Hello Coupon-mad, I see we have more in common than just our voucher usage, I also have 4 children (aged 11, 9, nearly 8 and 5 today).

As a family of 6 too I am extremely grateful for the Tesco voucher policy which has saved me and my family alot of money. I have written to Tesco and they have confirmed their voucher policy. It's not an automatic right to use vouchers but a nice bonus when sometimes I feel like I am juggling too many balls in the air.

Hello again Welshy, and Happy last-45-minutes-of-Birthday to your youngest!
    :j

Yep I agree with your view as you know, I don't argue when I find a 'jobsworth' cashier, I just never go to them again!

Today I had no choice but to go to a young girl cashier, firstly using several coupons where I had decided to break the habit of a lifetime and actually buy the products! Of course I had the usual £1 off nappies coupons (and some internet-printed Quickreads too) ready to follow-through with at the end!

Anyway she took one look at the handful I first presented and stated 'I won't be able to take all those, I can tell you!' 'Oh', I replied, 'but I have bought the products, look'. This threw her, she'd obviously been primed about people like me but wasn't ready for someone actually spending ages (as I had) picking up some of the right items.

She had to check with a colleague but then scanned them, after which I said, 'So if I hadn't bought the products how many could I have used?' She replied 5, so quick as a flash out came my '£1 offs' to add to the pile (and yes she did scan the Quickread one but then I have not used one before today so they have obviously not been inundated like your local Tesco!).

(P.S. My little coupons are nearly 13, 11, just 8 - this week - and 5, so quite similar to yours Welshy! I have 3 boys, and DD is child no.2). :o

Went to Tesco in prescott tonight and bought a blouse for £15
I handed over 4 £1 money off vouchers for womens things. All vouchers were the same.

And the lady on the till just scanned them.

Then said to me £11 please.

    No problems.

Hiya Coupon mad, I haven't used vouchers for a few days, must be slipping and discovered that I had put my pets at home money off vouchers in recycling by mistake - oops!

Well I never I had 3 girls, followed by my son who was 5 today, he was due on my 30th birthday but arrived 10 days late ! funny thing was when they were younger and I would be out and about and people assumed I was a child minder, although having 4 children in 6 years is abit of a blur - lots of noise but also lots of hugs and kisses !

:bdaycake: Happy Birthday to your little one today.....from a fellow birthday girl :D

The vouchers/coupons are a great help for my family of 6 too....(mine all being a little older now though...Twin boys of 19, daughters of 15 and 14)

I'm having trouble using them in my local tesco these last couple of weeks so I'm going to give it a rest for a couple of weeks and try again. Hopefully it will return to normal and I can use the vouchers again *fingers crossed*

Happy Birthday Sallys Savings - maybe we should all campaign for bulk discounts for families of 6 !!!!

I am lucky in that the one checkout supervisor is aware of the policy and if the cashier refuses to take the vouchers then when she is called she will tell them to scan them through. I make sure though that I abide by her rules, eg no duplicates.

Talking of voucher usage if you use vouchers to get money off kids treats, then in the school holidays you can use the tokens from Rowntrees packs for the children to particpate in free activities. See my thread below which is going to be included on Martins email tomorrow.

Aww, this thread has been making me feel very nostalgic! We are a family of six too, but mine are that bit older - four boys who are 23, 22, 18 and 14. So the oldest two are out in the world now. I well remember those huge family shops though, the mountains of food needed to keep four growing boys going!!! And I can quite understand why people find their coupons invaluable.

Back on topic, I had no trouble getting two nice check-out boys (wearing England shirts!) to take vouchers yesterday. The general policy in my local Mr T is three vouchers per shop if you haven't bought the product, but sometimes they will scan more. One of them gave me an extra football card too, they must have been in a good mood!

I picked up my first Quick-read vouchers in the library yesterday so it will be interesting to see if those coupons scan.

Also, if anyone has the free health goody bag from Tesco pharmacies, there is a £1 coupon for a waxing product in the magazine, and that scans fine in Tesco.

    Hi Welshy,

As a newbie to this, what exactly is their policy - and is it company wide or decided locally at each store? I've got some quickread vouchers on their way to me, and it would be great to be able to slip these in from time to time, but obviously without taking the mickey.
