    interesting posts guys!

I'm having much more trouble using coupons at Tescos lately so have taken to keeping one coupon at the front of my pile for £2 or more if poss and if they only take one get them to take that one, given a chance they will put through a 10p one and say that's the coupon!

also sonetimnes put 2 lots of shopping through one for mum both with one high value coupon for each but will change to Lidl if they stop coupons altogether as much quicker to shop there!

Hi surfsisiter, you do the same as me then!

Although I've run out of £2 vouchers and only have several £1 nappies vouchers, I always carry these separately in my pocket in case the policy changes! My normal handful of coupons is sorted into date order, which is great if they will accept lots at once even if they are for only 10p off!

I will probably change to Asda if my local Tesco gets too restrictive, failing that it will be a change to shop at Waitrose for a while until the fuss dies down. I'm sure Ben is right, Managers have a regular crackdown on various things (usually just at a local level) but as soon as targets are down they will change policies back again.

When I was told in a fairly small Tesco that they only accept 1 coupon against your shopping, I decided not to shop there again if I can help it, and politely explained this to the CS girl.

Told her I'd be shopping at the larger Tesco in future specifically because of their coupon policy - hope it may get back to her Manager (who has been telling his staff that 'Tesco can't get the money back on money-off coupons any more'!! Sadly his staff believe this and spout it verbatim now, I have put them straight twice but not sure if they believe me).

I don't think Tesco have changed policy, I emailed them last week and they emailed me back outlining the company policy (which is exactly the same as when I emailed them about it the last time):

    1) Tesco specific vouchers: Product must be bought

    2) Manufacturers coupons: 1 of each coupon if the product isn't bought. Multiple identical coupons, you must purchase the same number of products.

    3) Internet coupons: Manager's discretion.

No mention of 10%, 1 coupon per shop etc... It just seems to be pot luck depending on who is on the checkout.

Ok I'm going to upset people now

But I can agree with stores refusing vouchers for items which haven't been bought. Why should you get money off something you've not purchased?

If you've bought something fair enough, but if not then you shouldn't be entitled to a discount.

    Sorry, but there we go

    Your opinion is totally irrelevant.

This forum is for discussing codes n vouchers, not the rights or wrongs of using them.

Okay I'm going to upset some people now too. Some of us (unlike the directors of these companies) aren't on 300k plus a year and need to watch what we spend. So if it means my kids can eat a bit better rather than some of the 'store brand' stuff then I will carry on using these coupons until I'm told otherwise. In the meantime my kids can come home to something a bit healthier than pie, mash and 3 veg. Nuff said.

I look at it this way. :)

I've got a voucher for 20p off Heinz beans. I haven't bought them, but the person before me or after me in the queue probably has. In fact, the Tesco I'm in has probably sold hundreds of tins of Heinz that day. I'm probably the only one to hand over a voucher for them.

Tesco will get their 20p (plus a handling fee) back from Heinz. Heinz have printed the vouchers and know how many there are in circulation, and know it's only a small percentage of them that will get used.

I'm happy to get 20p off. Tesco are happy because they will get their money back, and they've managed to get me in their store and spend lots of money. Heinz are happy because they've shifted more tins and are a market leader.

    Everyone's happy - what's the problem?

I think it can also vary from operator to operator in the same store. In the same store I've been told no product no voucher, the 10% rule (and by golly she stuck by it to the letter "I can only take a voucher for 23p"...) and other operators who will take almost anything you give them!
