I've got a voucher for 20p off Heinz beans. I haven't bought them, but the person before me or after me in the queue probably has. In fact, the Tesco I'm in has probably sold hundreds of tins of Heinz that day. I'm probably the only one to hand over a voucher for them.
Tesco will get their 20p (plus a handling fee) back from Heinz. Heinz have printed the vouchers and know how many there are in circulation, and know it's only a small percentage of them that will get used.
I'm happy to get 20p off. Tesco are happy because they will get their money back, and they've managed to get me in their store and spend lots of money. Heinz are happy because they've shifted more tins and are a market leader.
Everyone's happy - what's the problem?
Fair point and each to their own. Just don't think I'd have the nerve that's all. 'specially as I've seen signs saying "please don't try using as refusal may lead to embarrasment and delay blah blah blah"
Whilst we're on Tesco though, does anyone know why they stopped their little booklet in between their free magazine?Comping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -
I have never been able to use vouchers for stuff I havn't bought. I don't know how you have been able to get away with it but I never have.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

Sparky67 wrote:I think it can also vary from operator to operator in the same store. In the same store I've been told no product no voucher, the 10% rule (and by golly she stuck by it to the letter "I can only take a voucher for 23p"...) and other operators who will take almost anything you give them!
This sort of person is trying to impress his/her boss with this kind of attitude!
When it comes down to it why should they care if they scan a £20 voucher or a 10p.
Obviously if you try and give them 5x£20 vouchers(yeah right) then fair enough, but like a previous post says if you give them 5 x 25p off Heinz beans, for everyone of them vouchers they scan there will be at least 50 cans that they sell .So whats there problem?????
*rant over*If you dont ask you dont get!!0 -

Having said that, in Barry the cashiers have been warned and threatened with the sack if they take the £1.00 quick read vouchers and continue to do so. Shame as I have around 850 left !! Asda Cardiff Bay is hit and miss although I did use 4 quick read vouchers in one shop the other day.

Completely agree with previous posts, we can all read the t&c's on the vouchers that say they should be accepted against the product named only, the stores are really being nice/helpfull etc accepting any when you haven't actually bought the product.
I do understand why people try and use them in these cases but don't think you should expect to be able to.
I also don't fall for the 'my children would starve' or 'we would eat unhealthily if it wasn't for these vouchers' theme, food should come first and internet/phone etc 2nd, we're all on-line so no-one out there is starving.Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.0 -
OOH this is causing some grouchiness isn't it.
My Tesco will only accept one voucher per visit unless you have bought the goods. They have got very picky over their own and most of those are only for extra points with a minimum spend!
I agree that the use of the vouchers off goods you have not bought is fraud and therefore should not be used but I also agree that many of the items will have been purchased throughout the day by other people who have not used the vouchers.
Maybe each shop could set up a voucher drop off point where you can collect vouchers you do buy the item for and leave vouchers you don't intend to buy.
