Vent about some drivers

Aren't they (erroneously) referred to as spotlights? That was my badly made point.
Anyway, I haven't noticed that phenonmenon round here, and I'm struggling to think why people would do that.0 -
People who think that hazard lights are 'park anywhere' lights.
School run mums (I am a mum) who have to be some of the most aggressive drivers I have ever seen, 'Yes the roads are not safe for your darlings to walk home from school' BUT its because you speed, don't indicate, park on double yellows on blind corners, push into oncoming traffic to get out of parking spots and generally drive in a way hazardous to EVERY other person!:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0 -

It's becoming an increasingly common phenonmenon round where I live (North Wales) and I'm struggling to think why people do it too! The only thing I can think it sombody thought that it was clever and a number of weak minded individuals saw it and decided to copy it. If that is the case then maybe it will start to spread like a virus so it may well arrive in your area anytime soon.
p.s. Anyone who reads this and wasn't aware of this happening please don't be tempted to do this because it makes you look like an idiot. The fridge is empty, the walls are damp, there's no hot water
And I look like a tramp and tramps like us
Baby we were born to walk0 -

in REAL fog it is BETTER to run on side lights and fog lights, this is because the dipped lights reflect back. In this situation one should be driving very slowly anyway. However as pointed out the rear fog doesn't then work, so it's a bit of a strange set up!
I don't recall when we ever had REAL fog in this country, we get mist. Sometimes a heavy mist, but mist all the same, fog lights should not and need not be used.
It is the additional driving lamps that should only come on with main beam, and not on dipped beam.
People who don't indicate.
People who indicate last minute and thus cause everyone to brake and disrupt traffic flow.
People who pull out and then accelerate at the same rate as a snail.
People with no roundabout lane discipline.
People with defective lighting (this is an unroadworthy vehicle and you can be ticketed for it) however it's ok if you have your fog lights on right...?!;-)
People with sat-navs stuck in the centre of the windscreen (Offense if deemed restricting vision)
People with half the kitchen sink dangling from the rear view mirror (offense)
People who drive at 40mph. Be it in 20/30/40/50/60 zones.
People who block junctions (don't care if there is no box, use some sense)
People drinking/eating/shaving/applying makeup and finishing their cornflakes at the wheel.
People who sit on the brake pedal and burn my eyes out, so can see !!!! all when they take their foot off and takes a bit to get accustomed again
People who hit the brakes every time someone comes the other way
Anyone in my way,move it's MY road! ;-)0 -
Drivers of Silver Mercedes Cars ... Arrghhhh !!!Some days I wake up Grumpy ... Other days I let him lie in.0

a few of my pet hates- the 20mph brigade- ''the speed limit is a limit not a challenge'' the limit is also 40, try going somewhere near it
school run mums/anyone that uses parent and child parking spaces- because inevitably they will decide they want one, block the whole road waiting for one and if you dare look confused at why they blocked the road you get the look of death
toyota avensis minicabs- where i live is littered with them and they are the biggest bunch of ignorant !!!!s ever to drive
oh and old people that push in at the petrol station- its called a queuethings arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back thenMercilessKiller wrote: »BH is my best mate too, its ok
I trust BH even if he's from Manchester..

Ohh this is my new favourite thread. Despite being a relatively new driver, 2 years on car (4 years on bikes though) and only being 26, I feel like a proper grummy old woman sometimes. I want to get a really big flashing sign that says the National Speed Limit on a single lane road is 60mph!!!!!! The amount of times I get stuck behind a car doing anything from 30mph is a joke!
And although my mum says its a speed limit not a target, its a straight road, I am sure some people just dont look where they are driving at all.
I am also with you on the lights. I would carp myself driving in the semi dark with one head light, dont people realise how dangerous that is?
And people who get in the wrong lane on purpose! Damn them if they think they cutting in front of me, they can go the wrong way if they want to get in to the wrong lane!!!!Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.0 -
"You're driving dangerously for people who stick to the speed limit. The inside lane is for driving up to 50mph, the middle lane for driving up to 60mph and the outside lane for driving at 70mph".
Sounds a bit like my own internal rule for motorways, but in my case it's 70, 80 and 90 and works a treat for me. You shouldn't really be trundling along at 70 in the outside lane when overtaking - get some speed up and finish the overtake quickly and pull back in is my rule. People who overtake at 1mph faster drive me mad!0 -

Agree that fog lights should not be used unless bad visibility, but they can and should be used when the visibility is decreased, and this does not just mean fog; -
Rule 226from the Highway Code
You MUST use headlights when visibility is seriously reduced, generally when you cannot see for more than 100 metres (328 feet). You may also use front or rear fog lights but you MUST switch them off when visibility improves (see Rule 236).
[Law RVLR regs 25 & 27]
Rule 236; -
"You MUST NOT use front or rear fog lights unless visibility is seriously reduced (see Rule 226) as they dazzle other road users and can obscure your brake lights. You MUST switch them off when visibility improves.
[Law RVLR regs 25 & 27]"
Remember when the words "MUST" and "MUST NOT" are used in the HC the are a legal requirement.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0
