Vent about some drivers

My pet hate?
People who do 3 point turns on busy roads and expect everyone to stop and wait for them.0 -
People who drive right up your backside, they scare me, I have been rear ended twice nowBlackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0

Does it really matter if you call them fog lights, spot lights, driving lights etc.
It does actually, because driving lights can be used at any time, "fog lights" can only be used in reduced visibility.
I was talking to a traffic cop a couple of years ago and on the subject of fog/driving lights he told me of a bloke he pulled up for driving on foglights at night time with no reduced visibility, the guy was adamant that they were driving lights so much that the cop was only going to warn him, but evetually gave him a ticket, on return to the station he went online and pulled up the details of the vehicle and it showed they were factory fitted lights and they were fog lights, he sent the details to the driver and he heard nothing more, bearing in mind the driver told him he would contest the ticket.
Driving lights can be used at any time.
Fog lights can only be used in reduced visibility
Rule 236 from the Highway Code
You MUST NOT use front or rear fog lights unless visibility is seriously reduced (see Rule 226) as they dazzle other road users and can obscure your brake lights. You MUST switch them off when visibility improves.
[Law RVLR regs 25 & 27]
I agree with you about the wrong use of foglights, they are a menace

Drivers who can not be arsed to queue to go right at a roundabout so use the left hand lane and cut people up. Coming off the A130 onto the A13 is prime example, even with clear roadmarkings. I do wonder if it weren't for these people if there would be a queue at all
Argh, this drives me crazy, exactly the same happens at the roundabout on my way home from uni. There isnt even 2 lanes until you get close to the roundabout so they squeeze past you on the left on the grass verge to go round the roundabout in the wrong lane:mad:
At the big roundabout near the gyle in edinburgh the left lane takes you to maybury and there is usually a big queue, so people use the right lane which goes to the shopping centre then want in at the last minute. Erm, no i dont think so!
A !!!!!! in a stupid 4x4 tried to force his way in recently, no indication or anything, i didnt give way as it drives me crazy, he was so close i couldnt have opened my door if i wanted to. He was screaming and shouting at me, he eventually gave up and drove away:T I refuse to let myself be bullied on the road. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
Cant remeber if this was discussed, but the people who only have one headlight, but have it constantly on full beam!
Thats not really the same as having two working head lights is it!!!!!Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.0 -

Fools of the highest order. They don't seem to realise they can just stay in the right hand lane, go right around the roundabout and then go off at the maybury exit.
Yeah that is unorthodox but perfectly legal..."One thing that is different, and has changed here, is the self-absorption, not just greed. Everybody is in a hurry now and there is a 'the rules don't apply to me' sort of thing." - Bill Bryson0 -

Yeah, i know but the queue that way is usually pretty horrendous too. They prefer to just skip the queue and force their way in at the last minute. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
I'd like to add to my list of pet hates if I may...
- Pedestrians who wander carelessly in the middle of the road
- Drivers who go more than 180 degrees around a roundabout to effectively turn left or straight ahead, bypassing the patiently queued traffic on the inside lane
- 2 lorries overtaking each other on a dual carriageway (even worse if its on an incline)
- Drivers who are distracted by their mobiles, etc. drift into other lanes of traffic
- Rubberneckers
- Drivers who edge out of a junction onto a busy main road, wanting to turn right, obstructing all traffic coming from the right until someone from the left lets them in. Very infuriating!
- Drivers who park on the edge of T-junctions you're coming out of, so you can't see any traffic coming from that direction.
- Buses. No further explanation required!
- People who don't understand lane etiquette on large roundabouts. (I.e. not going to the inside lane when coming off at their junction)
- Parking space snipers! You know who you are!!!!
