I always check my receipts & on average I am overcharged about once a fortnight. This is in a variety of shops so I cannot say that anyone is better or worse than any other.
I always call up the shop & tell them & they tell me to come in for a refund. I point out that I live 15 miles away & only shop weekly but they say that is OK & just to go to customer services when I am next in.
I do this & so far it always works.0 -

Isn't there a sign behind the Tesco customer services counter giving the rules about Double The Difference ?0

i have googled the double the difference policy and found loads of old threads on it on different sites , some from 2006 , so i think to get the definative answer i will visit cs next time i am in tesco and clue myself upmy favourite food is spare ribs0 -
its not just supermarkets who are bad for this. I have had to jump into superdrug twice in the past 4 weeks and twice have been overcharged. First time was buying Gillette shaving gel for OH, they had 3 different kinds out 2 were £2.50 and 1 was £1.88, of course I pick up the cheaper one so after triple checking the price went to pay and of course got charged the higher price then had to wait till she got somebody to check the offer.
Second time needed throat lozenges, normal price £1.49 honey & lemon £1.33 after standing ages in the q, one person was on, got charged the £1.49. At that point could not be bothered pulling them up, but I bet that this goes on all the time as people are buying so much at once wont realize.0 -

Maybe it is not a bad as some other things, but it is still bad. If we stop caring about bad things just because there are worse things, where will it end?
Using your own examples, we should not care about someone being raped, because it's not as bad as being raped then killed. We shouldn't care about a child being killed, because it could have been worse, six could have been killed.0 -

Did they try telling you that? Certainly not the case.
Of course, you do have to have paid the incorrect sum and left the check-out (no use telling the cashier and getting it corrected there and then) but you don't have to have left the store itself.0 -
after reading this thread, i checked my receipt at tesco last night. my kids wanting attention etc made it hard, so i just checked items on offer, one was four cans drink advertised at four for a fiver, one of cans wasnt in offer
, they shouldnt have been placed where the signs for the offer were.
the other was 4 packs snowballs and babycham, both advertised at 4 for a fiver again, and hadnt been knocked of til receipt, so went to cs, and got double the difference back, making a total of 6 pounds , thanks guys for advising me to check my receipts, i'll be doing it more often nowenjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)0 -

There is no comparison whatsover with being over charged for matches !! for all we know the single box could have been on special offer anyway :rolleyes:Vuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0
