Anyone else excited by this? or is it just me.....?:T
I have a bit of a crush on the Victorian period and mixing it with Christmas just makes me dizzy!
This Friday (11th) 9pm bbc2
I'm going to watch it with DDs shortly, and we're looking forward to it
There was a programme on one christmas, called 'A Tudor Feast at Christmas' and that was very good. Worthy of buying on DVD if I could ever find it!There is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. You never quite know where they'll take you - Beatrix Potter0 -
excellent programme. Should be on at prime time instead of Eastenders. If more people watched these type of progs instead of screaming shouting and sleeping aound etc the world would be a better place.
Haha yes...although I've no illusions about how most people lived back then. If you read 'London Labour and the London Poor' by Henry Mayhew (1857) it makes the goings on in Albert Square look like a vicarage tea party!'Never keep up with Joneses. Drag them down to your level. It's cheaper.' Quentin Crisp0 -

Peter or Alex?
In the words of Harry Hill:
'There's only one way to find out...... fight!'
[Raksha is now going to lie down to deal with visions of Peter and Alex stripped down to long shorts and wrestling in the hay......]Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -

Sorry, i had to put my pennies worth in... I think both are lovely men... and MEN MEN they are too...
I have loved watching the series that was on earlier this year (or was it last year?). And this xmas edition was great to watch to. My OH was glued to the TV (even after he said he didn't want to was "this rubbish"). Oh how he changed his mind!!Sealed Pot Challenge Member #8810 -
I love this series as we have visited Acton Scott a few times (only about an hour away from there). It is great to go for a day to see butter making, the farrier shoeing the horses and we have met clumper. He is just as lovely in real life. You can also see all the equipment used in the series. We also saw the gentleman making the hay rake.
Did anyone know that the cottage they live in is now rented out as self catering accommodation. No electricity and a tin bath for wash nights. It is as it should be.
There is a flush toilet outside should anyone need that side of the modern world but apart from that its all authentic.
If anyone lives close enough, it is definately worth a visit.0
