Thanks for your reply. I really don't bake these days as just DH and I and neither of us have a sweet tooth, also being careful on the weight front.

Thanks Sunshine, you've just reminded me of some baking that I meant to do today. I was going to use some pears and a handful of dark chocolate chips in D&DDs apple braid instead of the apples and dried fruit.
You could give that a try? Otherwise, poach them and serve with custard for dessert.Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.0 -
I'd adapt an apple recipe and create a tarte tatin with them - yum! I am doing this tonight with some apricots....0

Cook them with some red berries and make a thick pear/berry compote that can be stirred through yoghurt for fruity yoghurt dessert. Six pears will make a large quantity so might be worth portioning up and freezing.Context is all.

You can make a sorbet - if you google you'll find a recipe - sorry can't remember where mine is - but it is really easy to make, basically pear, sugar and water and tastes lovely0

can you make a good old crumble? pear and plum is lovely. or a bread and butter pudding with stewed pear and dried fruit. Or anything you can think of that you would normally do with apples.0

Thanks, Haribo. It's good to keep all the answers together so I've merged to two threads.
I would steam them and freeze them for adding to porridge to sweeten it.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
I have pears here, probably abpout 10 which are starting to turn would be ok to eat but i think probably better in something else, other than pear jelly or maybe a crumble has anyone got any other ideas.
