  • You can freeze or dry pears. I used the last of last years crop by putting them in a dish, making a chocolate sponge and spreading it over, served with a quick HM chocolate sauce
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Thanks all! I picked what I could today (gathered far more windfall to be disposed of :() and stewed them down with cinnamon and brown sugar. We've just sampled them after a big family Sunday lunch with ice-cream, absoloutely delicious! Even my misery-guts sister sampled it, five times to be precise! What's left over will be spilt between us and my dad has promised to source a longer ladder so we can reach the nether regions next time I visit.

    Yes, go ahead and pillage.

I've made 3 huge batches of stewed pears now and the family can't get enough of them, particularly as I'm sparing with the sugar and generous with the cinnamon. Custard, cream, ice-cream, evap, anything goes! I've also pulped a load and used to substitute part of the butter in a cake recipe, deliciously moist!

I cannot believe that I am eating so well for nearly free!

You might like to edit your header and post as I presume you mean "pears" (the fruit)? It's a bit confusing as it is!

I have to admit I was a little puzzled and thought "pairs of what?"

    pairs or pears??

Your post does not make sense at all.
  • I thought you were going to ask how many spare pairs of undies everyone had...I would have been able to join in with that one :D Sadly I have no suggestions about pear chutney for you :(
