  • I thought I was doing quite well until I read this thread - it seems you guys are managing to pay off more in an average month than my take home pay!!! MAybe we need another thread where you tell us lesser mortals how you are managing to find an extra £1000 or so a month - now that would be REALLY inspirational!!!

I know what you mean WDFB. I thought i'd done pretty well paying off 3 grand in 6 months and always feel a bit deflated when I see someone's managed to pay off loads more. But then you just have to tell yourself: it's all about chipping away at the debts, you're doing all you can, you're going in the right direction, and you WILL get there.

As my numbers aren't that inspirational I celebrate other things.

**I've preached moneysaving mercilessly to anyone who'll listen. Have inspired at least four people I know who have debt problems to start a budget and cut their debt interest and get themselves heading back towards debt- freedom.

**I've talked about my debts on the radio in the hope of helping to break the taboos that some people still have about talking about money, and encouraging people to get help.

**I've realised I was originally going further into debt without knowing it, but now I'm going in the right direction.

**I've just been accepted for the last 0% credit card that I will need to see me through to debt-freedom next year.

**And perhaps the most important, I've fundamentally changed my view of money and how I manage it. I now genuinely feel richer having a tenner of real money than a hundred of credit available to me, and I know that this experience will stay with me for life.

I guess the thing to remember is, YES repaying your debts IS about numbers... but being truly debt-free starts and ends with your attitude, and that's the most important thing.

    Dec 2005 £8,500

    April 2007 £0

Paid Off Since Lightbulb Moment £8,500

Debt Free Date: APRIL 16 2007

Jesster, Never a truer word spoken. :)
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
