Found a new one I can pay for
Got a great mortgage and cheaper life cover with the help of Andrew Smith

Am about to tart my card
Haven't spent any money this week.

...in the last few months have changed beyond recognition...cook for myself....have a budget (which I try to stick to but even when I go over I can use money from savings!!) ...for the first time in over 20 years I finish the 2nd month with NO OVERDRAFT..I've paid off 2 credit cards, 1 storecard in the last 2 months...I made over £750 selling on ebay/amazon etc since 20th May...when I buy I budget...I cook...no longer waste £150 on sanwdiches & parking each month...dont impulse but any more...I know what money I have, what I owe...am about to start my own business as a 2nd Job...I made my mum so proud that she cried (& does so fairly regularly as I recount my new DFW lifestyle!!)...finally (at last they cry!) I will NEVER. EVER. go back to what I was like before and love being surrounded by people who totally understand the shame, financial/practical/emotional/devastating implications of debt and who help each other dig ourselves out of the hole we got ourselves in!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0

Since January I have not only overpaid on all my debts, cleared 2 cataloge accounts which stood at nearly £1000 each, I have also saved £560 to take my children out during the summer holidays.
Last year we couldn't afford to go anywhere even though DH was earning £5000 a year more than this year.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things
F U Fund currently at £2500 -
I just wanted to say a huge well done to everyone. It provides extra motivation reading about all your achievements. I for 1 am very proud to belong to this exclusive club :-)0

I am inspirational because I have reached and exceeded my 6 month target so will be debt free sooner. I have a happy loving family who want to be together and I made someone smile today.
Hugs all you are doing so well.Barclaycard 3800

I am inspirational cos I have the worlds greatest collection of spreadsheets & charts the world has ever seen (NASA keep asking me if they can borrow them) - shame money's not coming in fast enough to be able to do anything *with* the fancy sheets for long periods of time........
Plus now DD & I can live on less than the average night out bar bill for a week.
Does divorcing the Money Haemorrage (tm) count as MoneySaving? He was costing me a fair bit. This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!
Current Pay Off Target : £1500 :mad:0 -
well done to everyone who's posted, its great to read how well you are all doing & you all should be really proud of yourselves & what you've achieved :j
welcome to all the new dfw's too :hello:
here's what I've achieved since joining the DFW's...
my debt will be sub 30k on July 1st (was £37,000, managed to get ppi cancelled on one of my loans which was just under 4k)
reduced my dfd from 2037 in Jan to 2009 now
have saved over 1k so far towards f+f settlements (thanks to greenfingers for getting me on the road to saving through his £2 coin savers club!)
started learning again for the first time since leaving school, doing an online IT course through Bristol College (found out about it on MSE)
Stopped smoking for 2 months on Monday
Successfully claimed DLA & a family fund grant for my AS son which I found out about on MSE which has improved the quality of his life enormously
I'm not the most organised of people  but getting better at mealplanning & batch cooking to freeze to save money on meals.
And I don't waste money anymore!
Best wishes & thanks to everyone, still have a long way to go but I couldn't have got this far without you all :T0
